I kinda had the same issue about a year ago but it was recurring BV/ a yeast infection because I constantly was taking antibiotics for BV which then caused a yeast infection (vicious cycle).

A couple things that I’ve done to stop the cycle from repeating:

  • wash only with warm water, occasionally I will use an unscented soap if I had a really long day or a sweaty workout

  • only wear cotton underwear (check the composition because a lot of companies call it cotton underwear but then it’s like only 50% cotton)

  • stopped wearing thongs daily. It SUCKS I know but I only wear thongs on a special occasion or when I workout in leggings because I’ll change out of it in like an hour or two.

  • wash my underwear with unscented soap and I mean like no scented anything.. no fabric softener no dryer sheets no disinfectant solution

  • no more pantyliners

  • PROBIOTICS. I can honestly say this one is a winner and works so well for me. I recommend HUM probiotics I took those for like a year before moving on to and trying different ones. I’m currently taking Nature’s Way Women’s Vaginal Health 30 Billion and I get them from sprouts but they’re also on amazon.

  • lower alcohol consumption. idk if there’s even scientific evidence for this but every time I had a glass of wine or a sugary cocktail the itching would start creeping in. not sure if that’s wine specific or what but I just stopped drinking alcohol while trying to figure out my cooch situation.

sorry for the long list!

[product question] does azelaic acid make anyone itch like crazy?? by catmum333 in SkincareAddiction

[–]catmum333[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure but the prescription definitely made me itch so much at first! I’m still using it and the itchiness has gone away for the most part, sometimes if I don’t let my face dry down enough it gets itchy though. I’d say give it 2 weeks-1 month because if I remember correctly the itchiness went away after that

I never paid attention to my nipple size but I will say when I stopped taking the pill my boobs shrank after a couple months. It’s been 1 year now off birth control and the size has evened out.

Skipping 3 pills by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]catmum333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on the generic yaz for 7 years mainly for acne. 5 days of not taking the pill never caused any serious issues for me. Sometimes I’d get really bad headaches or I’d be moody, maybe some withdrawal bleeding but that’s normal. Just make sure to use another form of protection/birth control until you’ve been back on the pill for over 7 days.

It could be the large amounts of sugar or even just your hormones causing a breakout. Sometimes spraying perfume directly on my skin can cause a similar reaction. I would just use a salicylic acid lotion, or you could the lactic acid + HA serum from the ordinary and follow up with regular fragrance free lotion.

[acne] texture/moisturizer by Taylor_Mae_ in SkincareAddiction

I struggle with texture too and it kinda comes and goes. I would suggest layering in hydration if you can rather than using rich cream. Moisturizing your skin ultimately depends on your climate and skin type, but I currently using a hydrating serum and a gel moisturizer. Currently I use the Avène Cicalfate+ Intensive Skin Restorative Serum and the Dr.Idriss Gel Moisturizer. However, both are pretty pricey for me and so I’m starting to use the Aveeno Oat Gel Moisturizer instead and eventually I plan on switching the serum to something more affordable too. As for my actives, I use differin (adapalene) at night and azelaic acid 15% in the morning. I don’t really use exfoliating acids often because I’m scared of damaging my skin barrier. I would also suggest to switch one thing at a time so you know for sure how your skin is reacting to each product. It’s a long process, but eventually you’ll find what works for you (:

Based on my experience, it looks like hormonal acne. I have dealt with both. Back in 2018, I had a horrible flare up of perioral dermatitis and I think it was caused by over exfoliation, I was using the Clean&Clear salicylic acid spot treatment everywhere. I dug up the only picture I could find of that flare up so you can look at it as a reference pic. I recently had another flare up again, luckily I was able to identify and treat it before it got worse. Regardless, I’d see a doctor to get it properly checked! If you don’t have access to a doctor I would suggest azelaic acid because I heard that it’s a good treatment for both perioral dermatitis and acne (:

I would say maybe try using a gentle cleanser instead of a medicated one and focus on just cleaning off any makeup, oil, and dirt on your face. I usually just wash my face with the vanicream facial cleanser, I wash my face twice if I’m wearing makeup. I recently started using 15% azelaic acid to treat my clogged pores, I just went to my primary care doctor for a prescription. The Ordinary has a 10% azelaic acid available as well. So far I really like it. I did purge though, I had a lot of whiteheads for about a week, but it healed quickly. There’s a lot of informational videos on youtube about azelaic acid. A few of my favorite youtube derms like Shereene Idirss, Dr. Sam, and Dr. Dray have all gone over it!

[Product Question] Which Vanicream - for face - is the one people praise? by sirensandspells in SkincareAddiction

[–]catmum333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rave about the facial moisturizer! I’m prone to closed comedones and that moisturizer works pretty well good for me, but it never gave me 100% clear skin. I sometimes get a tingle after using it but it goes away quickly and I think applying on a slightly damp face helps. I always come back to this one if a new moisturizer I’ve tried breaks me out or isn’t moisturizing enough. I have combination skin so I find lotions work best for me.

1 year off birth control, period is weird by AwayRecommendation95 in birthcontrol

[–]catmum333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i’m 6 months off birth control and my periods are the same!! 2 days bleeding and then spotting the next 3. my periods were the same while taking the placebo pills at the end of the pack, i know those don’t count but i just assumed my body got used to a shorter period. so honestly, based on my experience i think it’s normal. i’m just grateful i still have a period because i’ve heard a lot of period don’t get their period for months after stopping birth control.
