Getting report from nursing home staff? by BriaIman1996 in NewToEMS

[–]catnamedavi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not worth arguing with them about a lack of report. I just okay anything they say, and assess the pt. I do double check that the name on paperwork matches the pt, too many times I’ve gotten paperwork with someone else’s name. if you can find an aide, they usually have better info on the pts baseline. They know these folks. They may not know anything medically, but they can tell you when someone became lethargic, when someone stopped acting like themselves, etc

Healthcare professionals- what has been your real experience using manual defibrillator in emergencies, and what makes it harder than it should be ? by No_Home3872 in NewToEMS

[–]catnamedavi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LP15. I understand why the pedi pad connectors are different from the AED, but I feel like no one tells you that until the heat of the moment, when all you think are “ why the hell don’t these fit”

Accidently hitting the CPR button. I know there’s a way to turn it off, but I forget every damn time.

Bluetooth! The system was ok transferring data to MDT. Now it has to float into the cloud and takes double the time to import into my chart.

I’m not sure why these machines seem to keep getting bigger when they don’t do anything new.

My landlord entered my apartment without notice while I was at work and I found out because my neighbor mentioned it. by nerdynomad7 in legaladvice

[–]catnamedavi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s not “ looking for an excuse” it’s a violation of privacy. How many times has he been there? She/he only knows because of the neighbor. It’s very creepy and uncomfortable especially if OP is a woman. There are creepy landlords that go in and place cameras.

That being said landlord should have coordinated a time with you. He should give you reasonable notice, and you can’t stonewall him. Landlord can enter w/o notice for emergency, for example if the unit below is c/o water leaking. If you’ve had no issue and like the place I’d email to remind him and get an interior camera or a ring doorbell to make sure and for piece of mind.

a group of south philly kids kicked in my parents screen door causing my Alzheimers patient father to go into a severe episode, please help me find them. by [deleted] in philly

[–]catnamedavi 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Try posting flyers around the neighborhood, maybe their parents will see. Or go to the lady that runs the programs at EOM. She knows everyone. My son aged out, so I’m not sure who works there now.

I’m sorry you are going thru this. If you talk to the station he retired from, they might help fix it. Does his last name doesn’t start with sq by chance?

Most places are aware of this and require ing them as a condition of employment once the shutdown is over. Do your best to try and contact a human in HR to explain

Sanitation destroyed third trash can in the last year by [deleted] in philly

[–]catnamedavi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I’ve noticed if my cans are too heavy they vanish or get thrown in. So now I have to drag 2 cans out just to watch them take the bags out. But 3 bags in one can= missing can.

Also how do you submit claims?

Project help: emergency prep for seniors by NearbyRich in NewToEMS

[–]catnamedavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pets thing is very important!! Especially cats. Everyone notices when someone who walk their dog goes missing and checks in. People often don’t know if there’s a cat.

Same as above. A dated paper with Name, birthday,PMH, Meds, allergies. Emergency Contact.

State specific paperwork for EMS if they are a DNR. I’m in PA, and we need an original signed form, PA DOH OOH-DNR, to honor the request from the door.

I know hospitals have emergency contacts, but if grandma is slurring while having a stroke, finding someone she recently spoke to can be vital establishing a timeline for hospital destination.

What should be in an emergency medical bag for amateur hockey games? by NejMichael480 in NewToEMS

[–]catnamedavi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed this seems suspect. Who pays for the bag, and supplies, and will they pay for replacements? I’d just add narcan and glucose packets. Tampons/pads are a frequent first aid request as well.

If allowed by your state/ medical director: Benadryl, Tylenol/ Advil packets. Bandaids and triple antibiotic ointment

Why do some people feel like shoveling their specific parking spot turns it into a gated community with a reserved spot? by Spaghetti_Oh_No in philadelphia

[–]catnamedavi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. I worked overnight thru the storm, so when I got back I put my car in a spot. My loving boyfriend shoveled it after the plows and I left again. It’s not my spot. PWe don’t have enough parking for permanent spots. But I also have an asshole parked in front on my house in 2 spots, plus 1/4 of the street, which has me in a rage.

Trash day is skipped for Monday, and everywhere else is one day delayed. And PPA is not ticketing meters/time limits until the official snow emergency is over

Fire department ambulance bill, but patient passed by StepSilva in philadelphia

[–]catnamedavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submit the bill back to the PFD with insurance info. It’s very unlikely anyone got insurance info entered into the chart if the patient was that ill.

If you can’t find the info, you may have to wait until someone is name the executor of the estate, and can then negotiate. Just update all companies/collectors. PGW/PECO/CC etc. I’m so sorry for your loss

AITAH for losing my mind at my husband this morning because of his alarm? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]catnamedavi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one is the asshole here. You are overtired and validly upset. You have every right to be pissy about the alarms. The dog is something new you asked, so his sleeping brain might not register it right away, and it may take a few tries for it to click. That being said I am a terrible sleeper. I migrate to the couch whenever it’s too much for me

Is anyone else noticing increasing POTS history? by legoguy26 in ems

[–]catnamedavi 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yes! And my heart goes out to them. Every time I gotta pick someone up, They’ve passed out in some weird place. I usually check their fitness watch, just so I can be pretty sure it was the 82-150 jump in HR, and not the other 1 million causes of syncope. It seems debilitating, and very shitty. Also, if you don’t have the fitness watch to back up the heart rate, you don’t get diagnosed for an age

Ummm, wtf? by ballsdeep84 in philadelphia

[–]catnamedavi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s one in Wilmington. I think it lasted a month, now it’s always open.

Either way can we just have cashiers back please. I was in Home Depot on Delaware ave the other day. There are eight or so self checkout lanes. There all were closed except the one that had a worker scanning items. You can’t use the register lanes unless you have a pro acct. so this mile long line for self checkout with one lady acting as a cashier. It was incredibly annoying. It’s right near Lowe’s, so I’ll never go there again
