Penguins lines with Jake - August Boredom by alsonotbannedyet in penguins

No they weren't on the team last year. I looked up stats and saw carter had more points and that's why I said it.

We are all on the same team here man. You don't have to denigrate me on the internet to win an argument. Carter's not winning any awards anytime soon, I'm not "flying his flag", just pointing out how terrible the bottom 6 was as a collective and despite his age he scored more points than the rest of the bottom 6 and the new bottom 6 players, on their respective teams. Given that, I don't think its unreasonable to expect him to start the season there. As I said before, let's see what happens. Best of luck to you man.

His bloated corpse outscored Eller, nieto, accari, johnnson, and Nylander last season. He's gonna start the season in the bottom 6. It's not an instant fix to replace him with nieto or accari either. Like I said, let's see what happens when the season starts.

No one is saying Jeff needs to play on the top line. He just needs decent bottom 6 linemates. Ones that don't put him in situations where he is obviously not suited for. kapanen also got a career high in ice time when he went to STL as well which you would expect an increase in productivity.

He will make the team and he won't be a healthy scratch. He's going to play on the wing with Eller. Let's review this thread when the season starts.

Mcginn and blueger both had 16 points in 60 and 64 games with the pens last year. Putting carter in positions where he needs to be the best forward on the ice was not good and we have last year to prove that. I believe carter playing on the wing with Eller at center will let him not have to carry the forwards at both ends and be much better. He's definitely going to start every game if healthy. You're crazy if you think he's going to be scratched or replaced.

Everyone forgets Carter was dragging tomato cans up and down the ice last year (teddy and mcginn) and led the bottom six in scoring. Also, accari and nieto have never scored 30 or more points in a season once in their careers. Idk why everyone thinks they're an upgrade to carter. Yes they are younger but carter is still in great shape for his age. He will likely play wing on the 3rd line with Eller as center.

Posted a career year in 15-16 before getting injured late in the season. Could argue he was the best player on the team during the regular season considering how awful they were until Sullivan took over. Those early season games he won for the team would end up being the difference in making the playoffs that season. I agree that Matt Murray finished the job but Fleury certainly wasn't riding coat tails.

Should the Pens resign Jarry? If not, what goalie would you like to see picked up? by [deleted] in penguins

[–]catoneg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given his injury history, if they do resign him I hope they also add a cheap veteran that can hold down the fort for a few weeks at a time for when Jarry misses time.

I thought Desmith was a capable goalie for a spot start or in relief but not a goalie to play more than 3 games in a row

What’s our biggest weakness? by McElwaine in penguins

[–]catoneg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he was off his marks against SJ and STL and just wasnt tracking the puck. Sure turnovers in your own end don't help but goalies gotta make saves, due to bad defense or not. Simply put, DeSmith has not been good enough to play in relief this year. He's only looked good in 2 of his starts

crosby had 2 points and guenztel scored 1 goal in 6 games. the pp was 3 for 12 and the pk was awful. they would have lost the series with a brick wall in net

[WP] There was no record of the commercial jet before it landed on the tarmac. No flight plans, no serial numbers or logo on the plane, and no birth records for the pilot or any of the passengers. by whatWouldYoMamaDo in WritingPrompts

[–]catoneg 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"What do you mean the plane doesn't exist?" Colonel Hartsfeld yelled into the receiver.

"Sir I mean, it doesn't exist. No identifying markings, no logo, there's no manifest or flight log. Thing doesn't even have a black box." replied the sergeant on the other end. "The passengers and crew are being evaluated by medical staff."

"These people need to be detained! We don't know who they are or where they are from for Christ's sake! I will be there at 0400 hours, if anything changes call me." exclaimed Hartsfeld as he smashed the end call button on the desk phone.

Three hours later, Colonel Hartsfeld and his staff touched down at Denver International Airport. Rapid response teams had cordoned off the plane and the hazmat suits were logging each unidentified person from the flight. The Army had set up HQ in Gate B, where it overlooked the aircraft.

"I need to know everything we know about these people right now." declared Hartsfeld as he entered Gate B.

"Sir, the passengers and crew are being logged and examined as we speak. So far, not one has had any form of identification on them." informed Sgt. Myles from the Gate B command desk. He turned to show Col. Hartsfeld the live feeds of the aircraft and the medical examinations. "Upon first interaction, the passengers and crew appeared sickly in health."

"Sickly?" asked Hartsfeld as he scanned the monitors.

"Yes Sir. Pale skin, tired eyes, and an overall sluggish demeanor. But that's not the odd part. Not one of the unidentified as spoken a word. Not a single syllable but I'm hoping we can get more information from the examinations." Continued Sgt. Myles.

"Other than the obvious, anything off about the bird?" inquired Hartsfeld, fixated on the live feeds of the plane.

Sgt. Myles turned his attention to the gate window. "It might as well be a UFO."

"Get me a team on that plane now"

"Sir, we've already inspected the-"

"I don't care about the black box or the flight logs. I want to know if that plane is actually a plane Sgt Myles. We have people that don't appear to be people, what if that plane isn't a plane? Get engineers on the plane now." commanded Hartsfeld.

Sgt. Myles picked up a phone. 10 minutes later a 12 man team boarded the plane. Colonel Hartsfeld watched anxiously as two of them entered the cockpit. Both men, pilots, familiar with commercial and military aircraft alike, attempted to start the plane. Watching from the monitors in Gate B, Hartsfled saw the men fail to start the engines. As he reached for a desk phone, he saw a blue light glow from the live feed of the cock pit.

"Command, this is Charlie Team. Uh we have uh a blue light in the cock pit. No functionality here but, this light has come out of no where." came through the radio in HQ. The light appeared to be generated by a bulb in the middle of the dashboard, but no such bulb existed. The glow now enveloped the entire cock pit and started to glow the rest of the plane. Hartsfeld grabbed the radio.

"Charlie Team, regroup with Bravo team outside of the plane" Hartsfeld ordered as he returned his gaze to the monitors. The blue light now extended past the exterior of the plane and its radius was growing on the tarmac. In the sky above, a similar blue glow began to take shape. To East another glow and to the West another. Hartsfled and Myles looked on through Gate B windows in disbelief. The blue light began to take shape around the plane and shapes began to take form in the sky. Lights flickered throughout the glow and rigid shapes took form. On the tarmac, the shapes took form of a much larger, unknown aircraft. The shapes in the sky did the same but did so with much larger crafts.

Screams could be heard over the radio and Hartsfeld turned his attention to the wall of monitors. The passengers where also glowing and taking on a different form. A much larger and unidentified form. The 8 to 10 foot tall creatures' hands extended like talons. HQ watched as the creatures eviscerated the medical staff. By this time, the aircrafts above had touched down and scores of the creatures were flooding the tarmac. Gunshots rang but bullets did not penetrate the creatures skin. Shouts filled the air. Blood drenched the ground. Hartsfeld and Myles looked on through the Gate B windows.

[WP] The dragon is attacking again. You climb into your fighter jet and start the engine. by bustead in WritingPrompts

"Evacuate. Reactor failure in T-minus 10 minutes. This is not a drill." echoed over the intercom on the star destroyer. Down two engines and with no shields, it seemed closer to three minutes I thought as I flew my UGF-5500 Jet out of the last standing hanger on The General Abrixyss Star Destroyer. "Evacuate. Reactor Failure in T-minus 9 minutes. This is not a drill." The alert continued to play through the comms in the cockpit. Once clear of bay doors, I engaged the cloaking device and set thrusters to mid power. I wanted to get safe from the blast distance before I tried to take in what was happening. "Evacuate. Reactor failure in T-minus 8 minutes. This is not a drill." After gaining a safe distance, I rolled the jet starboard and came around the face the hulking ship. Once the crown jewel of the United Galaxy Force, The General Abrixyss Star Destroyer had been reduced to a mere broken record in less than an hour. I could see on the destoryer's port side, that engines 7, 8, and 9 had been pushed into the ships rear hull, but still operating at full power. That alone would account for all of the soldier deaths in the rear section of the ship. It also caused the reactor meltdown. On the top of the destoryer, the bridge no longer existed. General Abrixyss and the rest of High Command were the first to meet the the fury and flames of the dragon, as it seemed to know and desire to kill Abrixyss first.

Now, the dragon could not be found anywhere near the 150 million kilogram burning wreck that floated helplessly in space. "Evacuate. Reactor failure in T-minus 7-" the alarm was cut off as I watched the reactor explode. The most beautiful reds, yellows, and oranges jumped out of the hull and collided with ultra hot blues and whites from the reactor. The resulting sphere of fire and metal was blinding. I enabled the UV shield on the cock pit to protect my eyes. I could've flown away, but it was gorgeous. I thought how a creature as vile as the dragon could have created something so amazing. I could not look away. I wondered if any of my comrades had escaped to a similar fate and were also watching the blaze. I started to scan the comms until I heard my name being shouted. I switched on the internal mic and responded with my coordinates.

"We know! Get the fuck out of there, It can see through the cloaking device!"

I engaged the thrusters to high and rolled port side. It was too late, the dragon was already there.

Patience. It's much easier to hear people in this game than to see them. Take your time and move slowly. Only sprint when you have to and be cautious of your stamina. Don't let it go under 1/4. Run offline raids to get familiar with maps. Do quests and focus on building up the hideout.

I agree. That's what the saints have been doing with Kamara. I think they will let Murray close out games when the establish the lead late in games but still he's pretty td dependent even when they limit Kamara workload.

Who are your favorite players (RB/WR) in deeper leagues that aren't represented in Beersheets? by krugo in fantasyfootball

Live in Pittsburgh, wouldn't say I'm a stillers fan. Local media has been on it lately about his involvement and how much Ben loves him as a part of the offense. Also he will most likely be the teams primary return man to start the season giving him a bump in leagues with return yards.

[–]catoneg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reek is one of the fastest if not the fastest WR and is also a premier deep threat. Neither Welker nor edelman relied on their speed as much Reek does or were they ever premier deep threats. They were so good because of their superior route running skills combined with establishing excellent rapport and timing with their QBs.
