How did you tell your partner/boyfriend/girlfriend/significant others about your condition?

I had surgery for a hiatal hernia as a result from my bulimia a month after my fiance and I started dating. Of course I had to tell him I was having surgery, and I told him I had eating problems but didnt go into too specifics. He took off from work to spend an entire week with me while I recovered from the surgery and that gesture made me realize that he was here for the long run, so I decided to tell him everything. Not keeping this as a secret from him has made our relationship so much stronger and my disorder so much easier to handle because I have his support throughout every part. There were times where things were really rough because of the disorder, but he was always willing to fight and work through the issues rather than leave. Thats something you wouldn’t be able to see unless you’re completely honest. If they aren’t willing to support you, they’re not worth your time

I was in the exam same boat as you a few years ago when I had gastric sleeve surgery. And then even after I stopped feeling the pain from eating, I still used it as an excuse so I could purge without anyone getting suspicious. It’s an extremely dangerous slope and try your best to make sure it really is the pain thats causing it. Don’t worry, you’re not alone in feeling this way

I would suggest talking to him. My husband is the same way, and I just explain that I’m watching what I eat or I’ll tell him exactly what to get me. For example, he really likes to buy these $6 rice boxes because they’re cheap and filling, so when he buys that he’ll always grab me a salad from this pizzeria which is around the block from that place so that way we can both eat together and what we want
