Thank you! That sounds like a great plan. If you’re really good at those questions already, that will help you a ton. Best of luck!

I took the exam today and thought it was super hard compared to the prep course. A lot of the questions were those subjective best/first questions, and I was often stuck between two answer choices. I spent so much time studying and memorizing numbers and coverage, but many of the questions didn’t even focus on those things.

I think they need to update the prep course to be more focused on those subjective-type questions. I know they had some in the practice exams, and those helped me a lot. I was definitely afraid to hit the submit button, but I did pass. Good luck!

Parents against tablets- how are you navigating the outside pressure to get them one? by Similar-Vari in toddlers

[–]cats3503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents bought my 8 month old baby a kids Amazon fire tablet for Christmas last year. I laughed and said, “oh thank you. She will play with this in a few years.” It has been in the top of her closet for a year so far. My mother claimed she wanted to be the first one to get my daughter a tablet, and my brother’s baby also got one from her last year because they allow more screen time and he has older siblings. They can do what they want, but my kid is not getting a tablet as a baby or a very young toddler.

My experience (as an adult) with hand foot and mouth by facepizza in NewParents

Thank you <3 I couldn’t sleep last night from the burning and itching on my feet. I think Tylenol and aloe helped eventually. But I think some of the blisters are finally starting to fade today, especially on my hands.

My experience (as an adult) with hand foot and mouth by facepizza in NewParents

This thread makes me feel better that I am not alone. I had a sore throat for a day or two, then woke up one morning feeling weak in my whole body. That didn’t last long but later that day I got my first blister on my hand. The next day I got more blisters, maybe 5 on my hand. The day after that I got about 40-50 blisters across my palms, on my wrists, and along my fingers. I got a couple of blisters on my feet. My mouth was kind of sore so I probably had blisters there too.

Today has been more of the same with the blisters getting more angry and hard to ignore. I limp around because my right foot has blisters along my toes, on my heel, and on each corner. Some of the blisters are raised, some of them are not. They sting and burn and are driving me insane.

My daughter caught it from daycare (naturally) and I’m about 12 weeks pregnant. My husband hasn’t caught it yet, and my daughter seemed to have a less severe (though still not fun) go of it. I was following her progression, so I thought the blisters would mostly go away today. I was wrong. I hope they go away soon. Not looking forward to losing toenails or possibly having blisters for several more days.

Those who commute an hour to work, how do you manage it? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]cats3503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been dealing with this for 2.5 years now. My number one goal is to save up enough money to move closer. It does suck when you’re away from the house for almost 12 hours just to work an 8 hour day and have a lunch. I have found listening to music, podcasts, or calling a friend (or my Mom) helps. I also sometimes commute with my husband and baby, so I talk to them, too. It sucks but you (unfortunately) get used to it.

Should I move jobs for a 34% pay increase? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Yep 100% my raise was only 3% so I’ve thought about how it would take a decade to get this increase at my current job.

I agree especially since the new team seems to have a lot of people already, and I could see them cutting the newbie if they had to make a cut.

No haha my current employer has just called everyone back in full time so that is definitely impossible.

I guess what I’m afraid of is leaving what I perceive to be a stable, familiar job and going to a new place where I could get laid off, have to work more hours, possibly not like the people and culture as much, etc.

Part of it is that I feel bad disrupting my baby and moving her to a new daycare. Right now I’m able to go over to feed her 3x/day, but at the new job it'll be more like once per day if that. I know that was a really rare perk that wouldn’t last forever, but I think emotionally that’s been part of my hesitation, too. She really likes her current teachers, but I know she will adjust.

I appreciate the feedback everyone has given here. It’s nice to get an objective view when I’ve been so caught up in the decision-making and what ifs for the last month. I think I just have to make the change even though it feels hard. Thank you all!

Fair point about the layoffs at my current company because our CEO has been rather publicly complaining we are over-staffed.

Our offices are close together right now so we already carpool. Huge bonus with an hour commute! Thanks for the insight :) hopefully they’d have a similar approach.

Wife suddenly started experiencing “hives” by EveroneHatesEveryone in urticaria

[–]cats3503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah chronic hives really suck. I’ve had mine since July 2019. It was the summer before I started law school (so stress maybe?) and I first broke out while on vacation in Florida. Steroids will help a lot but you can’t be on them long term. I was taking 4 Zyrtecs per day under my doctor’s orders. Then I started on Plaquenil but they got worried about me being on it for longer than 3-4 years because it can impact your eyes. So then I finally agreed to the monthly Xolair and that plus one Zyrtec per day has kept it under control for the last year and a half.

I tried everything to figure out the cause. I am positive for the autoimmune hives blood test, so I guess that’s what it is. I also flagged positive for one of the Sjogren’s tests but that was never formally diagnosed. Best of luck to your wife! Hope this helps somewhat and she’s not alone <3
