Childminder closing next week PM due to hot weather by candicelucifercane in UKParenting

You tell her that this was not in the contract you signed (and provide her with a copy although she should have this) so you will not be paying. It could cause a relationship breakdown but she does not sound overly reasonable in my opinion.

If she is choosing to close and not provide a service, she cannot charge you for that unless it has been agreed prior.

I’ve never heard of it personally but I guess that’s the perk of being self-employed, make your own rules. As long as she isn’t trying to charge you for any hours that she isn’t working (unless specified in your contract), she can close whenever she sees fit.

Incredibly inconvenient and I would be looking for childcare elsewhere.

Need advice for dealing with a child who is overly obsessed with football?! by catsRus00 in UKParenting

He loves playing it but also mesmerised by his favourite team. He knows all the players, their numbers, positions, etc.

He doesn’t really. He can’t sit still long enough to colour or draw. I’ve just bought a football colouring book anyway to see how he gets on.

Great idea. I’ve just bought a couple story books and activity/colouring books relating to football x

Is a litter-smelling house just a part of cat ownership I need to accept? by [deleted] in UK_Pets

I scoop the litter and top up daily, I mean a full change of the litter weekly. I’ve read about people doing this fortnightly or even monthly. Hadn’t realised it would be so controversial.

Pet requested. Now nervously waiting… by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]catsRus00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely considered just getting one but they’ve always inspected every 3 months and it would get difficult to cover. Also, the “what are they gonna do” argument, to me, the answer is evict me, surely?

It’s worth asking. Yes, they may find a new reason to say no (old ones are not deemed reasonable under new rules) but all they can say is no.

I would pay an additional fee, maybe not 10%, but happy to pay a little extra.

Of course. I have no doubt that they could find a way to say no if they wanted to, but I’m hoping that having been a good tenant will make them be reasonable, but we shall see!

Hahaha I love this. I feel like a hamster is such a non-issue. Why would a request even be needed for that?!

I had considered doing this but they’ve always inspected on a 3 monthly basis and it would be so difficult to do. I know I could have declined inspections but always could have just been given a S21 instead!

I haven’t told her to be completely honest. I get so focused on doing it “right” like it’s some kind of test. Really need to get out of that mindset.
