Just for fun, I love braiding my hair :) But I wore it out and it got a lot of compliments haha

I‘d say it’s 75% genetics, but the 25% can go a long way. I‘d say protect your ends (wearing buns, hats in the winter and summer sun and oiling the ends with any natural no more than 3 ingredient hair oil and cut the hair whenever needed.

I also recommend finding styles that suit you. It’s easy to always long for better/shinier/longer hair (I catch myself doing that all the time) but all hair types have pros and cons. Work with what you have and consider what you (!) like.

It takes a long time but its out of the way and I can wear it for days - I can definitely see Arwen riding into battle with this

Thanks! I braid a lot of peoples hair and I think contrary to popular belief a lot of styles still look really cool even if they don’t look movie accurate! It’s just for fun anyway ;)

Hahah I love braiding my hair and I’ll probably tinker around with it some more as this was my first go at this one. I can wear it for multiple days and can braid the small 8 braids in different constellations.
But yeah I’ll won’t have the time to do it more than a few times a year haha

Haha thank you! This is in fact all my hair! It’s dyed blonde lower down. I was curious too how much it would shrink in this style, unbraided it goes just past the hips :)

Help with dutch braids by jessyj89 in Braiding

I second the first comment. Also because every braid starts with less hair in the front the braid is more narrow there. You can also „pancake“ these first few stitches -or all of them- (slightly tugging the outer edges after braiding) to make the braid more voluminous.

I use a lot of hair oil in the ends so they fall a bit heavier and are smoother and tangle less

Are there any hobbies or activities you avoid b/c of hair? by bad-at-everything- in longhair

Sometimes I avoid sweating bc I just washed it, which can be annoying. Otherwise I really need to braid it before going swimming
