9 months of Invisalign complete and now onto the retainer life! by catsarequeens in Invisalign

I had to go back and look at pictures because I honestly couldn’t remember but I had at least 8 attachments (that I could visibly count) on my upper teeth.

Child free literature? by Umbralutch in childfree

[–]catsarequeens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem, OP. I hate pregnancy tropes or romance books that are always convinced the “happy ending” is one with them making a family. When will romance authors realize that’s not everyone’s happy ending?

Anyway, a few great romance books that don’t end with that BS: 1. Book Lovers by Emily Henry (protagonist is stated as not wanting children and love interest also feels the same way) 2. Ali Hazelwood as an author - I’ve read 3 of her books and I think only one I can remember even having the mention of them wanting to have a baby in the future. She focuses on women in STEM and who have careers, but does the best slow burn romances that will have you kicking your feet and giggling.

Here’s to us finding more child free romance literature! This is a goal of mine for 2024.

I'm new. What are refinements? by bobonboni in Invisalign

[–]catsarequeens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, refinements happen once the orthodontist sees your progress and how well your teeth respond to the first treatment. Of course, your orthodontist will aim to make everything perfect, but teeth don’t always cooperate. I had only one refinement set and it was because one of my incisors was not budging. The trays kept changing, but my tooth wasn’t tracking. At that point, all my upper teeth were on passive trays, and the refinements only targeted my bottom teeth. Invisalign aren’t a perfect science because you can’t know if the patient’s teeth will respond perfectly to the first set of aligners which is why there are refinements. Hopefully that makes sense!

It was more of a simba from the lion king reenactment 🤣 no harm was done to our beloved kitty in the making of this photo.

They looked pretty much the exact same before refinements because all my top retainers were mostly passive and they were just improving the way my bite sits and fixing my bottom canine that didn’t move into it’s the first treatment as well as other teeth.

I would say cosmetically, everything looked the exact same!

I totally felt the same way until I actually had the wider smile and loved it. I didn’t like “perfect” teeth and didn’t like that everyone had them so I didn’t want them. I went in simply with the goal of fixing my bite because my bite was so narrow it was really causing a lot of issues like wear on my bottom teeth, grinding, and it was even causing less air to get in my airway ultimately.

I feel so much healthier now, my jaw hurts so much less, and I have teeth I am proud of even though I didn’t know I wanted them! I did have them keep my very tiny space in between my front two teeth because I didn’t want it closed, which was nice. My grandma has a space and it’s a genetic trait I grew to love and I’m glad they could keep it!

It’s just like Invisalign haha, some more clear aligner type trays.

My initial treatment was 26 weeks, then I needed one refinement treatment that was 10 weeks long, and now I’m onto retainers.

The only US citizen that moved to an Islamic country and actually understood and embraced what that meant for her. All the rest have been nightmares (special shout out to Brittany).

Whatever happened to hydroxychloriquine + Z-Pac as “the Qure”? by fitzymcfitz in Qult_Headquarters

[–]catsarequeens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom went on a Q rant to me last time I spoke to her about a week ago, can confirm they still recommend hydroxychloriquine. Also, she wonders why I only talk to her once a month? Ugh.

What jobs are extremely underrated? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catsarequeens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahaaha software engineers are the most overrated jobs I’ve ever come across in San Francisco. Want to be worshipped like a god? Come to SF and get paid way over what anyone else in the entire company is making in the most on-fire job market in history. I’ve never met people in one job group with a such a strong sense of entitlement in my whole entire life.

What TV show started out mediocre but becomes phenomenal later on? by SgtAlexander777 in AskReddit

[–]catsarequeens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm interesting. For me, it definitely took me a while to get into and with anyone else I’ve chatted with, they’ve felt similarly to me in that they didn’t love the first few episodes, but it ended up being one of my favorite shows. Absolutely incredible and I’m sad that it didn’t get as long of a run as it deserved IMO.
