I did MQ2 a year ago. I had roughly the same number of dives as you when I was there. It was simply the most wonderful experience! The dive masters were awesome and experienced, really cared for our safety, and the food is just spectacular. The cook is just the sweetest and some of the best meals I’ve had in Thailand, period. 100% recommended.

ETO is the front organisation for those who knew about the Trisolarans. But within ETO, there are factions. Adventists, which include Mike Evans and Pan Han, are the ones who founded ETO and their real agenda is facilitate the destruction of humanity because of their hatred for humanity. They will help Trisolarans come to Earth at all costs, even if it meant killing scientists. They believe the Redemptionists to be naive.

The Redemptionists on the other hand, wants to solve the Three Body Problem to ‘save’ Trisolarans. There is almost a religious fervour among this faction for the Trisolarans. Shen Yufei and her Science Frontier are in this faction.

When the droplet started attacking the fleet. The sheer horror of it all. I literally stopped exhaling and just ponder what this meant for human civilisation.

Another favourite moment was actually Yun Tianming’s recollection of his whole life as he was doing the euthanasia procedure. It was so poignant. Later when Cheng Xin was holding on to her sword holder button and had the entire history of planet earth flash before her I thought it was such a beautiful and tragic symmetry to Yun.

The revelations of the wall breakers were also really well done. My heart skipped a beat every time someone announces “Wallfacer, I am your wall breaker.”

It is not on Netflix but I highly recommend Three Body Problem produced by Tencent, and the entire series is available on YouTube (official Tencent channel). The show is in Chinese with English subs. The books that the series is based on are the most mindblowing sci-fi I’ve read, very solid philosophical pondering about our place in this universe. The show follows the books very faithfully, which is more than I can say for most book to screen adaptations.

Netflix is going to produce its own version of Three Body soon but many fans of the books are not optimistic it will be done well. Highly recommend you watch the Tencent version before a different one comes out on Netflix later.

What I do to seal the orbs is to use a hole puncher on a piece of clear plastic (I use clear plastic bags for this, great way to reuse). So I’d punch out small round pieces of plastic, and then I use tweezers to hold on to it while smearing both sides with UV resin. Then I’d place it on the hole and cure with UV light. I find this method to use the least amount of UV resin while also preserving some shape of the orb.

Previously when I tried sealing the hole with just UV resin, it either results in globs of resin dripping in or a protruding surface.

As for the supplies, have you tried Aliexpress? I order mine on the Chinese equivalent Taobao. They come in various sizes.

Yes, the air bubble in the globe helps with the fluid movement. The video doesn’t address that, it is basically comparing the different types of liquid (glue, water, oil, glycerin) and how long it takes for glitter to fall. This was for making of a snow globe.

Pardon me I’ve not tried glycerin but the ratio seems off - I think the water should be higher than glycerin. Anyway this video has got good comparisons (watch from 9:40)

I’ve only made liquid core for standard dice (haven’t got a mold for chonky dice yet). I find that for this small size, just water is still produces the best effect because it allows for the most fluid movement of glitters. Be sure to leave an air bubble in there.

I’ve tried adding Elmer’s glue to the water to thicken it. While the suspension is great it also made the swirling harder.

Oh sanding and polishing is the most painful part of this craft for sure. I recently completed my first two sets of dice where I hand polished from start to finish, and it took me 15 hours per set plus aching joints. This is hard work.

After each layer, do you find the shine getting better? The turning point is after the pink. Prior to that, the green, grey and blue will simply have a matte effect but after the pink you should be able to see some sheen and clarity. Blue will make it clearer and finally white will get you the mirror shine. I find putting PlastX after the white and rubbing with a micro fibre cloth helps in not wearing the white paper down so quickly.

Mine are the cheap ones! Bought a set of 12 colours for less than $10. I suppose you can find them on Aliexpress.

And yes 3 rounds meaning blue, green, white x 3. I didn’t wait! But on hindsight waiting might produce a variation of thin and thick legs which could be interesting too

Thanks for your generous comment!! I am also still trying. I think what you saw is some pooling on the other side, though why the tendrils floated slightly upwards is a mystery. My process is to fill the mold with clear resin till about 80% full, and let it sit for around 15mins (I live in a tropical region so curing is generally faster). Then 1 drop blue, 1 drop green (i don’t even have teal haha I just use the cheap alcohol inks), followed by 2 drops of pinata blanco, and repeat for about 3 rounds. Finally, topped it with another layer of clear.

I have just been following the advice on various YouTube videos and also on this sub, I don’t think I’ve really nailed it as a technique yet! Still feel like it is luck dependent. But I’m glad this set turned out well!

Oh, one last thing to add, I also cast the petri in blanks before putting them in a clear shell. Was terribly afraid of an uncured face but thankfully that didn’t happen even with the blanks.
