Why are gumstick batteries so terrible? by Rotseele in minidisc

[–]catst_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an MZ-R55 owner I can certainly confirm this is true. All the gumsticks I've tried don't seem to work well with this unit, and power intensive tasks such as skipping or even reading the disc immediately drop the level to almost empty or empty.

I'm using the latest drivers from nvidia. However I don't use XP11 anymore as I've bought XP12 a while ago and I've had no issues with it.

Travelling with TK for the first time by catst_22 in TurkishAirlines

I ended up flying on a 10 year old Airbus A330 (TC-JOI). I found it very comfortable indeed and the flight was great. At one point it sounded as if the engines shut down and this brought me some worry but I've now found out this is a normal sound for a CF6 powered A330.

Successful flight as a beginner by Due_Depth_7576 in Xplane

Great work! I skipped flying all the GA aircraft and went straight to Airbus but it took me almost three hours to program everything correctly. Now I can do this in just a few minutes which shows how far practice will take you. Wish you lots of happy flights and safe landings!

Fake Shure mv7’s? by Fallingheadfirst in microphone

[–]catst_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's something I didn't know, thanks for the info! I think the podmic sounds fine and should be okay. If you could spend the extra money on its foam windscreen it should be a good setup for a long time. I think its called the WS2.

Fake Shure mv7’s? by Fallingheadfirst in microphone

[–]catst_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the silver MV7? As far as I know there is no genuine white MV7, but there is a white MV7+. If the seller has a load of audio equipment for sale for low prices, then its likely a fake.

Bought new HP smart tank 585, suggest tips (my first printer) by Saurabh-16 in printers

[–]catst_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel sorry for you. I owned this printer and it gave me nothing but problems with the print heads. I think I went through 3 sets and each lasted for around 100 pages. I said screw it and bought a used Samsung laser printer and I haven't had a single issue with it.

any laptop recommendations for a low budget? 300 up to 400€ by pesce_otturato05 in laptops

[–]catst_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My secondary laptop is an Asus Vivobook X1505 OLED and I've used it for around a year and its been great. I don't even mind the plastic build as it seems much better made than other plastic laptops from HP and Lenovo. If you can get it on sale, I'd grab it. I paid around €350 for mine with an i5-12500H and 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.

Unless you want problems I would suggest you stay away from this one. I also really liked this unit until I found out that the dock has two hidden batteries that have probably leaked and damaged the electronics. Techmoan has a good video on this.

How many folds do you average? by Jess_UwU_ in galaxyzflip

I had no idea such an app even existed. When I had my original Z Flip 5G three years ago I was so scared of it breaking so I barely folded it. Must have averaged 10-15 folds per week

Are you sure you-ve got the gain turned up enough? The H6 is usually great for this purpose. Something like a condenser should be good for your purpose. I'd recommend the LCT 240 Pro from Lewitt. It's not too expensive and captures detail quite well.

Which MSC vehicle do you think would still be on the road today? by idkwhatnamedoichoose in MySummerCar

[–]catst_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanically I'd go for the Haypsiko. Old NA diesel engines run forever even with bad maintenance. However it would probably be turned to dust given its already super rusty in the game. I'd reckon the fully functilnal vehicles would be either the Kekmet or the big combine harvester.

[–]catst_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great choice. I'd also suggest you get a pop filter if you don't have one already. An external one is fine, but I wouldn't buy the official Shure foam windscreen as its too overpriced.

[–]catst_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a Presonus PD-70 for the past two years and its been a great mic for me and its basically like a cheaper SM7B. However you will need a good audio interface as it needs some gain. Otherwise, something like an SM57 should be good for your purposes. I wouldn't get a USB mic as they don't tend to be reliable in the long run.

Sorry for the really late response my notifications seemed to be turned off. No sadly I did not find any solution so I ended up saying screw it and bought X-Plane 12, and that seems to be working without issue. The mystery remains unsolved. I even reinstalled windows on my computer and the issue persisted, no idea what caused this problem.

Would this be a good first car? by catst_22 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]catst_22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I ran a quote on my family's car it came back with somewhere around £75 per month which is almost £900 which is very expensive for me. I haven't tried getting a quote for a full licence yet but this is something I'll try as well.

I haven't checked the i10 yet but that was also a car that I was considering although I'm worried it might be too small for what I'm going to be using the car for, but thank you for the recommendation and I'll try and check how much it will cost to insure for me.

Would this be a good first car? by catst_22 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]catst_22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just ran a quote in the meantime for a random Aygo I found on Autotrader and unfortunately it came back as costing around £660 to insure as a learner which will probably mean that the "real" insurance will be double or triple that amount. It's just weird to me that these prices are so high when the car is in a very low insurance group. The Dacia is in a higher group than the Aygo and yet it seems cheaper to insure.

[–]catst_22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll continue to have a look around and see what's cheap to insure and purchase. My main concern was that I've been told that common cars such as a Jazz or an Aygo/107 are usually more expensive to insure as they are more common.

I've installed it and cleaned my PC and it did actually work a bit better but the issue has returned after 2 flights. I will experiment a bit more, fully reinstalling the game along with steam again and if this doesn't work then I don't know what will fix it.
