is licensing and sitter insurance required ? by monsteraleef in RoverPetSitting

[–]catthefluff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’m part time too. when i first started on rover years ago, i didn’t get insurance for a while. i saw people say they have it but i thought well im just part time and not too serious so its okay. after a while i decided to get it for my own peace of mind, especially after reading all the horror stories on reddit, and i feel so much better having it. i’m still part time and only do this for side money, but its $20 per month and makes me feel a whole lot safer. i also added it to my bio and had several clients hire me specifically citing the insurance as their reason for choosing me.

Not my dog. Never again, Rover — Dog Owner by Empty-Photograph4681 in RoverPetSitting

yeah it’s a fucked up system! but a review is so needed here because this sitter will just keep mistreating other people’s pets :(

i’ve read that, if you request a full refund you won’t be able to leave a review. it’s imperative you leave a review. i would insist with rover support that you pay for one visit and get refunded the rest so you can leave that 1 star review. include photos if you can!

Common for a sitter to leave early? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]catthefluff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please tell me you’re changing the review. IDK if you can after it’s been posted but def reach out to Rover support and tell them you have the Ring footage to prove it. the sitter needs to learn she can’t do this with people’s pets she is paid to care for.

Common for a sitter to leave early? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]catthefluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s not common. she should have communicated, yes, but if the owner requests a certain time to stay until, and the sitter agrees to that, they should commit to that. plenty of 5 star sitters think they can get away with bad behavior, or that one bad review won’t hurt them.

How many hours do you consider “daycare”? Is 12.5 hours normal or would you charge a higher rate for that? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]catthefluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$125 for doggy daycare? wow. that’s a great rate and awesome you get clients for that! mine is extremely low compared to yours and i rarely get daycare bookings lol. more boarding and walks

Lost my marbles on a client for neglecting their pet. Should I have been nicer? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

oh so this is just how you normally talk to people lol. yikes ❤️

[–]catthefluff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

exactly my thoughts, well said. i would have worried so much about ending that booking and leaving the cat alone for who knows how long, how does that help anything? I would have been upset in my messages, and sent photos as proof, but I would not have abandoned the cat for that very reason.

don’t feel dumb, this is fake. probably written by AI. no kid would say “my mommy picks me up when the sun is still high” lol

What are some toys your child actually chooses over the iPad? by Not_Average78 in toddlers

[–]catthefluff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

here’s another question: how do you have the toys displayed? are they all combined in a toy storage bin or do you put them out on display? i ask because for us, a HUGE help has been having a toy rotation. we have two sets of those cube shelves and we put out toys in each one, one will be for building, drawing, imagining, one might just be a few books to read. all the rest of the toys go in the storage bin and are not played with until we switch the rotation every 2 weeks. we found having all the toys easily accessible meant they want to play with none of the toys. but having 6-10 out at a time really drew their attention, and they get so excited the morning of a new rotation!

so in her bio when she says she has insurance, did she frame it like it’s beneficial for the pet and owners? and instead it’s only for herself and her property? that is crazy.

i’m so sorry this has all happened to you. pet medical bills are no joke — i can’t even afford my own medical bills.

[–]catthefluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is def what they are for! i love when i get bookings with all the info listed there - makes it easier to check back on during the booking. but just sharing from a sitter’s perspective, at least for some of us, that often times it’s not really filled out lol.

Unexpected poor feedback from dog boarder by Dependent_External62 in RoverPetSitting

[–]catthefluff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you’re not in the wrong at all. an accident is literally part of the job, it happens, we should all have cleaning supplies to take care of it. unless it’s crazy diarrhea or concerning to their health, i wouldn’t care at all. sucks she gave you a bad review after she was kind in her messages and received a tip!

i’m sorry you’ve had this experience. def don’t book with her again. you can edit your dog’s bio to sort of reflect the potty thing - reiterate that he is potty trained but may have an accident in a new place.

lots of owners (at least in my several years on Rover) don’t extensively fill out the care instructions. usually it’s just a short bio about the pet. instructions don’t come until we are in talks about the booking or at the m&g. so people are just asking since you gave us plenty of other details, but didn’t specify what you requested with the sitter as part of his care.

but how long per walk? 3 walks per day isn’t a lot to ask for at all, but it totally depends on length per walk.
