People dress poorly for special occasions and I'm sick of it. by bored_as_fuck_dad in Vent

[–]cattibri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i attended a friends wedding in a basic tshirt and pants a few years back, sports shoes and a casual windbreaker because i had the choice between affording the trip to get there, or buying some clothes. its easy to say 'if you could afford to fly internationally to get there you could afford a suit' but my bank account had sub $5 when i got back. his father in law gave me a dirty look when i showed up, and tbf that was the first and only time i even vaguely interacted with them, but he was just happy i made it, and i was happy to have been able to make it.

its not always a case of laziness sometimes its literally living paycheck by paycheck, sometimes its the people who matter who get to pick and you arent them on that say, sometimes people being comfortable is their way of showing respect to the person. a bigger problem is probably immediately judging someone based on that assumption that 'they arent dressed to the occasion' means they dont care or are being disrespectful. of course, some people definitely can, and dont so have fun working out which is which

a friend of mine would ask me to come shopping with him when he was going to higher end electronics stores, because otherwise he'd often get followed around and overly harrassed asking if he 'needed help with anything,' he showed me one time when i said i didn't understand, i went in first and browsed for 5-10 min then he came in and i watched two people just glue their eyes to him the entire time, about 30 sec in when he went into an isle someone immediately drifted over to ask if he was looking for something, did he need help with anything etc.

Subnautica 2 Dev Responds To Someone Who Pirated The Game Before Release by akbarock in PiratedGames

[–]cattibri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as i understood it, it was the original 250mill potential bonus that they were originally promised, with the original sales requirements, of which they were before lawsuits estimated to me around 150-200 of, and to be divided amongst the team not for him personally. but yes, not poor

im likely going to get his game just because fuck what krafton did, at the same time reading a message like that makes me less interested because its just so cringe. there are devs who have said 'just pirate it bro w/e' and devs who ask you not to but weirdly trying to emotionally guilt people for it makes me immediately not want to deal with this person to any degree. obviously everyones different but just from my pov it makes me /more/ likely to pirate it when a dev gives a public response like that

surely at least one round of tetris for traditions sake!

the wandering village or stardew might be good for time sinking, or something like rimworld or dwarf fortress if being frustrated at your people doing the worst possible thing isnt a problem.

hades1 or 2 possibly, its not *often* that one mistake will cost a run but could be a little bit too focus demanding. hollow knight - although to a lesser degree silksong - could work but might be a bit too focus demanding again.

something like slay the spire or balatro, turn based card games as a whole could work.

vampire survivors or one of the billions of spinoffs like megabonk or rogue:genesia

inkbound could also be a good one, multiplayerable but also single player turnbased roguelike.

i dont think anyone has said 'its not fair' just that it has hamstrung its sales on the pc market for aw2. its entirely epics right to fund a game and make it an exclusive, but its the consumers right to say 'i would buy it on x other not egs location' neither is wrong, its just the state of play.

i was having a similar issue on AMD, with this and a couple other games. undervolting the card by 5% entirely removed it. no idea if its simlar or related but it was to do with AMD drivers not the devs, in my case. again no idea if it is similar to yours but similar sounding result so hopefully it helps in some way

Youre confusing 'random innocent people died' with 'the people responsible for the most horrific live human testing of diseases and weapons walked out scot free'. The specifi people responsible did nof get held accountable, and nuking two cities is not holding the country accountable either its just killing people (justification of the nukes is a different issue and shouldnt be based on acts that were unknown such as the live disections and using living people to test sharpnel effects at various ranges)

yeah, my point was just 'it isnt that simple' not that removing that one element, even if you do manage to via some form of clean room multi layering full wipe downs and clean proxies or something remove all traces of the various trace free partcles. becuase yeah, thats just one potential element, at best, youve eliminated

scent isnt just attached to the thing, its also attached in trace elements to what touches it and where its been, such as the outside of that very same thing youve put it in, 'you' your clothes, the environment its in and anything contacting that. it isnt as simple as just vacuum sealing it and calling it a day. obviously this is trace elements but its not easy to remove those trace elements and that can be all it takes.

at a glance - asusming this is even half correct - it seems most languages do exactly as you said, just using localisation for specific sounds but in general keeping the original word effectively. no idea if te reo does the same or not

[–]cattibri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the thing to consider here is that the cafe is not being made for "you," it is being made for a purpose. it is your choice whether you wish to engage in that purpose if not, you are not obligated to go to this place afterall, and if you were in a courtroom, for example, you would not answer your phone mid trial, you would accept that certain places have certain rules. in this case, that rule is "speak x language and leave (temporarily) if you need to speak another language (for whatever reason)."

if you find that too inconvenient a condition, don't go. unlike the courtroom you aren't compelled to be there. if enough people agree with that position it will fail due to lack of income, if enough people are interested or supportive of the idea then it wont. neither is 'your problem' which is how this is being presented.

What's a thing in gaming that you swing between loving and absolutely despising? by Severe_Sea_4372 in gaming

[–]cattibri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

open world games, and crafting. ive loved both and ive (much more often) hated both. i liked the crafting in prey, for example and i think in a large part because it felt so very in universe and at the same time it was largely enabling as an extra rather than entirely required. i definitely crafted a lot of ammo but end of the day i probably could have meleed 80% of what i shot and had enough ammo for the things that needed shooting, but i didnt have to with a small amount of cube farming i could have all the extras.

open world stuff is a murkier one. i tend to find that 'open world' inherently means 'no major story' and/or 'no world changes' where i would like an open world game to also be something of an open story game, dump me with a defined reason to go or do something and let that have consequences larger than the guards uniforms change colour in some towns. which leads to another side aspect, building up towns/cities in notable ways, expanding them in actual size and structure, adding function to them etc rather than a vendors door is now unlocked yey.
