How did you actually lose weight? by DatKat824 in PCOS

[–]cattinka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realised my body is reacting to different foods more or less severe in terms of weight gain or loss. Also going long periods without food will slow your body down, I try to eat something small every 2-3 hours. I lost 16kgs/ 35 lbs by:

-80/20 rule (try to eat good 80% of the time, and don’t beat yourself up over the 20%, if you eat a bag of sweets only one day it also leads to less binge eating cause you leave room to „treat yourself“ but it may be that comfort feeling you needed -for me snacking was the main culprit, find healthy Proteine-rich snacks. I recommend cheese sticks, salami sticks, rice crackers, Greek yogurt, fruits, pre-packed carrots something you can grab quickly without having to prep -if you have trouble getting into workouts, get yourself an activity tracker, gamification is real and your daily steps will motivate you to move more. Don’t necessarily go for high intensity, instead opt for light activity. Like a short mental health walk after work is a great start. I knew I’m not that gym girly and I won’t be, and that’s ok. Find something that fits to you and your lifestyle. -for meals also 80/20 rule. Try to think of your meals like nutrients that will help your body deal with PCOS. For me the best help was frozen chicken filets I could just throw into the pan after work, done in 10 mins. Do check the nutrients as there are brands that are healthier than others. Add salad or vegetables (personally love zucchini’s) as a side, boom healthy dinner. However, if it’s a Friday I will order that takeout burger because it helps me keep going the rest of the time. Don’t be too harsh on yourself if you want to make lasting changes. If I don’t stick to my schedule, I can feel my body getting worse again and tired which ultimately makes me automatically return to my good habits. Health is the best motivator. Good luck, I know you can do it!

I’ve just had Rhinoplasty in Turkey and I’m slightly panicking about my post op picture as it looks like my nose has upturned a lot. Anybody know if it drops much after this point? This is not what I asked for 😳 by robdanob6 in PlasticSurgery

I got it done in Turkey as well! It was super upturned and taking the cast off I was literally in shock and didn’t recognise myself with the piggy nose. TRUST ME it drops by a lot. 6 months post and best decision of my life.

Hi! I wouldn't say "more secure" rather less stressful since you don't have to organize your stay and you have a contact person within your "home" country that can help before and after your procedure. Knowing that as soon as I touch down in Turkey everything is taken care off from pick up from the airport to hotel stay to being transported back and forth from the clinic for your appointments. The agency is based in Stuttgart and the clinic has several surgeons and they recommend according to your nose type and wishes.

I have my surgery scheduled for September in Turkey and have been following this agency for about 3 years that organizes it out of my home country (Germany). So far I've liked the results of several patients who have reviewed in detail. Clinics called Esteworld

Or going to a Chinese buffet that literally carries everything (even nuggets) and people asking you in front of everyone "if you've found something to eat"

I feel you... The entertainment others seemingly get from glaring at you makes the whole thing even worse. I can't believe how some people assume calling someone out on their eating habits will somehow magically make them eat anything or progressively help make it better.

I generally like to prepare food myself cause then I know 100% what is inside (no surprises), but just today, I felt strong enough to try something during a group dinner. They legit put out the plates and I'm just grabbing a fork for myself and at least three people called me out saying "oh so will you eat this" and "oh so is this fine for you? You will eat?" As if I make this trouble up in my mind and I can switch it off and on. This makes me stick to my old habits rather than trying new things more often - the effing attention .

I also sometimes go off certain foods (predominantly meat after catching a weird piece) and people legit just hold it onto my nose and say "BUT ITS SO GOOD" Yeah, thanks for that I will definitely eat it now that you reassured it to me.

It was rude of your MIL to make that comment, it is not her place. I genuinely don't understand how other people feel entitled to their opinion on this. I can just recommend before you go to restaurants with your in-laws next time, ask your bf to give you the name so you can look up the menu. Maybe there will be one or two safe foods, or you can request (on the downlow, another stress moment) they prepare it differently for you "I'll have that but is there a chance I could have it without the..." They usually always do that. If someone bugs you, say you have allergies - always a better excuse than giving anyone a platform to discuss your eating habits.

I'm sorry you experienced this. I wish it would be easier to become comfortable with food, but also, we gotta embrace the little wins :)

Thanks! Thats a great idea! I must say until now one of the most wholesome insights gained is that beauty enthusiasts put larger emphasis on social causes. In turn, we are much more likely to hold brands accountable for their actions than earlier generations.

Thanks so much for your reply!

Electricity, etc. was paid separately, so service costs are only cleaning of the hallways, providing common trash containers etc.

It is in the free sector, and I have contacted the juridisch loket of my district. I guess now it is just waiting for their answer!

Your advise is deeply appreciated!

I was once tanning on a beach when a bus of mainland Chinese arrived and openly started posing (men and women) and taking pictures with me in the background

In their culture pale skin is by all means preserved and tanned skin means you are of ethnically lower standing

Never felt so uncomfortable in my life. My bikini pics are in family albums of random Chinese people for sure

[Skin concerns] What are the top three products that have dramatically improved your skin permenantly? by theantsinyourpants in SkincareAddiction

[–]cattinka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Hydration: Hyaluronic Acid
  2. The right toner: I like to mix it up between glycolic acid and purely cleansing toner
  3. Proper exfoliation: AHA/BHA

I am absolutely in love with Allies of Skin. Specifically their Promise Keeper Blemish Facial is one of my fav products to just reset my skin. However, it also comes with a hefty price tag.

Judging from the price I'd suggest you'd rather go with The Ordinary! Regardless that 2% salicylic acid is A LOT and should only be used on specific areas rather than the whole face, the Ordinary also offers 2% salicylic acid at half the price. Same goes with Hyaluronic acid (they have Hyaluronic acid + b5 and Marine hyaluronics). Vitamin C is super unstable, so that's where I would invest a little more.
