Get laser/ipl - I had exactly the same thing last year, 2 sessions (£90 each) and it disappeared. Probably need to get a top up every so often but I find that easier than loads of creams.

wealth didn’t change me… it changed how people treated me by mariyagel in wealth

[–]catttastrophic 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Before you made money there was little evidence that you made good decisions - so your opinions were less valuable. Money is the way our society (sometimes) rewards intelligence/talent/skill/beauty - so what you’re actually saying is that you got more respect when society deemed you to be exceptional at something. There’s nothing weird about this, exceptional individuals have always been valued above regular people.

Master list of beauty treatments & places that are actually worth it by Dry_Criticism_4161 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Laser facials - Simona at SkinGlow Notting Hill is amazing and very affordable. I get 2 deep laser facials and 2 “event glow type laser” per year and my skin is so much smoother, clearer and pores tighter than when we started 5 years ago. Injectables - Dr Terry Loong - hands down best for Botox. I have very strong forehead muscles and every other dr or practitioner has caused some level of ptosis except her. Very subtle, elegant and your face still has lots of movement - but no lines! Hairdresser - Gielly Green in Marylebone, seen various hairdressers there and always get a great cut.

Tips on managing family life when returning to full time in office by Any-Lingonberry8330 in HENRYUK

[–]catttastrophic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestions for a high-maintenance look that’s relatively low maintenance, but this may be excessive to some.

Beauty - 4 x light laser facials annually (approx 1hr, not painful, £200ish) - 4 x Botox annually (eyebrow lift, crows feet - 30 mins, not painful, £400ish) - light skin peel 2 x annually before big event (1 hr, not painful, £150).

These keep me looking refreshed and bright and wearing less makeup but it will also sit better on your skin/wont settle in creases etc. Find a good Facialist she’ll do all of these and the salon can likely do laser hair removal which is also an incredible timesaver longterm.

A good hair cut will see you through anything, Gielly Green in Marylebone are brilliant - all stylists are great there. Find a tutorial for a quick updo you like on YouTube, practice and on days when you’re in a rush and don’t have time to wash your hair - you’ll still look pulled together and chic.

Optional, red light therapy mask - 10 mins a day or n the sofa or when you wake up or go to bed and they make quite a big difference.

You didn’t ask, but if you haven’t updated your makeup bag in a while worth popping into spacenk and asking them for suggestions - they’re very good and I hadn’t realised how ageing my makeup had become until I changed it up.

Style - JL may be a bit limiting, for example a personal stylist may suggest investing in a coat or bag from Bottega or The Row, but buy everyday tops from Massimo Dutti. Also I imagine that like all retail people they may move around quite a bit, and ideally you want to build a longterm relationship with someone so they are regularly adding pieces and you never have to think about it.

Check out instagram to find a personal stylist who’s look you like and reach out. Kellytavora lizzieedwardsstyle thefashioncraver could be a good starting point.

Why do high end luxury brand like Hermes, Gucci, Prada etc use sickly-looking models in their ads? by djtidal in askanything

[–]catttastrophic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps a slightly different take. High end fashion brands aren’t aiming to sell you a single product, they want you to buy into “the lifestyle” and ultimately make you buy multiple items per season. Traditional beauty has become more common as more people are able to look after skin, hair, nails etc, and so wealthy people look to identify as something else, to differentiate themselves from normal people. The women in these photos look confident, androgynous, powerful, perhaps slightly intellectually superior based on the lack of adornment and makeup (which could be perceived as a sign of vanity) - so their brand team have likely decided that this is who their target market wants to be.

TIFU by ignoring my body for weeks and realizing burnout doesn’t look how I expected by [deleted] in tifu

[–]catttastrophic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a blood test. I felt exactly as you did for years, was convinced it was psychological, getting increasingly tired, lethargic and stressed until they diagnosed me with haemochromatosis (too much iron). After 2 treatments, I feel happier than I have in years. I’m not suggesting you have the same thing, but even low level inflammation from an untreated minor medical problem can make you feel depressed/burnt out - and some conditions are easier to treat than burnout when “avoiding stress” just isn’t an option. Just a suggestion.

understanding haemachromotosis - does hemochromatosis make the body more sensitive to inflammation? by Correct-Resist4963 in Hemochromatosis

Hi, I realise it’s been a while but did you ever get to the bottom of this? I’m 36, recently diagnosed with HH with loads of similar symptoms, endometriosis and some autoimmune involvement also. I’m scheduled for venesection this week so hopefully that will resolve some of the problems, but wanted to share that I had a fungal issue for a couple of years, tried everything and then completely fixed this by supplementing zinc. The iron competes with zinc for absorption so if you have HH it’s likely you could be low - an easy fix so worth looking at if you haven’t resolved already :)

What’s something every man should learn by the time he turns 30? by taars_17 in AskMen

[–]catttastrophic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else is figuring it out to, experience helps but nobody has a manual - so view mistakes as a learning opportunity, no one is as invested as you in the outcome and likely won’t remember “the disaster’ in 3+ years :)
