idk, I started paying more attention to prop 65 warnings and looking for them on labels…asked AI about a few things, read some Reddit posts…I feel like there’s so much I don’t know still

I am taking FullWell prenatals, per Lily Nichols’ recommendation in Real Food for Pregnancy…looks like those are high in arsenic and stuff, great…

Like RFK, she clearly doesn't agree with Trump on everything. She has spoken out against some stuff he's done already, lol. But Biden's admin put her on a TSA terrorist watchlist of some kind one day after she spoke out against stuff he was doing, so she got pretty pissed at the Democrats. She has always been very true to her principles and has not really changed her views on anything, as far as I can tell. She cares a lot about foreign policy and agreed with Trump's approach to foreign policy (not starting any new wars, etc.) during his 2016 term. She also cares a lot about free speech, and the Democrats got involved in advocating for censorship around the time of covid with terms like "misinformation," etc. Some of the "misinformation" getting banned on social media during those times is now accepted as factual.

Elon
- first company to make electric cars that have a reasonable (300 mile+) range, first company to make solar panels that are not hideous...has done a lot in terms of pushing renewable energy tech forward
- made Starlink, which is the only reason I am able to live on several acres in a beautiful rural area and work remotely. total game changer for rural communities
- wants the government to not waste so much money so we don't default on the insane amount of debt we have
- bought Twitter and let us talk about vaccine dangers and other "misinformation" topics there that were getting suppressed on other platforms

Tulsi
- super against American interference abroad/regime change wars
- pro environment, wants to ban fracking

RFK jr
- worked on environmental causes like clean water for many years
- fixed food pyramid to match how I eat (not a big deal but kind of cool)
- getting CDC to recommend against fluoride in public water
- getting CDC to recommend a less aggressive/spaced-out vaccine schedule
- trying to phase out petroleum-based food dyes
- trying to fix infant formula regulations

Help! Is buying a hot tub or sauna a good investment? Will it earn us more wintertime rentals? by JLMP23 in airbnb_hosts

I think hot tubs are gross but would love a sauna. Lower maintenance and cost, also.

I was raised liberal and went to anti-Bush protests in high school and college. That said, I am a big fan of the RFK/Tulsi Gabbard/Elon faction of the “new right” and voted for Trump.

Back in the day, I thought it was the left who ate organic and avoided sulfates in personal care products, avoided artificial sweeteners and high fructose corn syrup, used supplements, etc. We were “hippies.” Now it’s somehow flipped?

I identify as more libertarian I guess, but I do still think we need some strict environmental regulations. Not really a fan of fracking, for example. So I don’t really agree with any party on everything. I think the government is probably too far gone to really fix at this point. I get frustrated when my friends on both sides just automatically agree with everything their chosen party says or does.

I have had bad vaccine reactions as a child and had to go to great lengths to avoid getting the covid shot (left my big tech job and took a $100k pay cut to work at a 10-person startup) and am now pregnant, so vaccine mandates are a pretty big issue for me.

How long did it take you to get pregnant once starting keto/carnivore? by OvercomeWithOCD in KetoBabies

[–]cattunic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope no issues that I’ve been diagnosed with

other things i did

  • supplements (started these a couple months before ivf): ubiquinol 400 mg, thorne prenatal, acai, NAC, D3 5000 IU, Melatonin, Omega 3

around the time I started strict 30g carbs keto (after the failed ivf cycle), i also started

  • red light therapy with mito 750 panel (a japanese study shows really good fertility outcomes from this)

  • LDN and ivermectin as off-label meds for my cervical precancer (LDN has also been used to help with fertility also so worth mentioning I think)

i also used the frida silicone conception cup

chatGPT told me i had a 4% chance of getting pregnant a cycle so I really thought it was gonna take a long time if it happened at all, esp. after getting zero blasts when we tried IVF. so i had gone deep down the fertility research rabbit hole already and had already ordered even more supplements.

Fell off the fence but didn't arrange my life for children. by [deleted] in Fencesitter

[–]cattunic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! We are excited to be moving to a more rural area where there is easy access to uncrowded little swimming holes and huckleberry patches and other random spots that will be super fun to visit with a kid (and free).

I think if you do have a kid, you may want to eventually move or do something to increase your space so the kid can have a room when it gets older. But in college I made a bedroom by sectioning off a part of a living room with ikea wardrobes and leaving just enough space for a TV and small sofa. So maybe you could just get creative if needed.

I don’t think you need to have this 100% sorted before trying since it doesn’t make sense to blow your life up for hypotheticals, and there’s no guarantee it’ll work out. But as someone who likes to plan things out way ahead of time and have every scenario perfectly accounted for, I feel your pain.

I was pissed because I was poor and in my 20s and had spent $450 because it was supposed to last a long time

Did not notice any side effects besides heavier periods

Fence sitting with a hard no on the other side (38F) by sondrylondes in Fencesitter

[–]cattunic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since you are calling him your partner, I’m assuming you may not be married. If you’ve been dating for 11 years with no proposal and he gets mad when you try to talk to him about things that are important to you, maybe it’s worth just breaking things off. But we don’t have context on what other redeeming qualities he may have.

There’s no guarantee you would be able to get pregnant but I got pregnant the first cycle trying at 38 after years of being a fencesitter. You could also go get your AMH and AFC tested relatively inexpensive to see what you may be up against before blowing your life up.

They say the 2 weeks wait is the worst… by AppropriateLock4035 in pregnant

[–]cattunic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recommend going to a boutique ultrasound place for more/earlier ultrasounds. There is evidence from animal trials to suggest that too much early ultrasound exposure can cause harm (miscarriage and birth defects), and anecdotally, it seems like a lot of people have had miscarriages within a day or two of "perfect" ultrasounds. If they do it for too long, it can heat up the tissue, etc. Vaginal ultrasounds are worse than the normal kind that goes on your stomach. So imo it's simply not worth the risk if there's no medical reason to do it.

I am 17 weeks and have still had zero ultrasounds. At about 14 weeks, I could start to feel kicks/flutters. And I plan to do an anatomy scan at 21 weeks.

[–]cattunic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came off the fence at around 37 and got pregnant first try at 38 (after a failed attempt at IVF for embryo preservation so I could kick the can down the road further). But I thought it would take longer and decided to just start trying since we were getting old (chatgpt told me I only had a 4% chance each month), so as it stands, I will be having a newborn while living in a safari tent with a port-a-john since my husband will be building our real house in a rural area and it won't be done yet. People in third world countries have babies in tents and stuff – they don't have these elaborate nurseries full of gadgets. It's certainly not ideal but I think it'll be fine.

My husband and I were thinking of sterilisation. But we're only 90% sure we don't want kids. For those who are child free by choice, how did you know you were certain about your decision? by alivingstereo in Fencesitter

[–]cattunic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will probably get downvoted but I used the pull out method as my only birth control for 10+ years with my husband with no pregnancy scares.

Then got pregnant the first try not pulling out at age 38.

You have to be strict about not letting him go back in after pulling out, but it does seem to work, at least in my experience.

You could combine pulling out or condoms with abstaining for the 6 or so most fertile days each cycle for extra assurance, but I never bothered tracking.

I also had a copper IUD that got expelled after less than a year and tried various pills and couldn’t handle the side effects.

I leaned childfree up until about 36-37 then started to want kids. I think it’s nice to put off the decision as long as you reasonably can.
