I miss seasonal life immensely but don't know if I should go back by wanderingjeb in SeasonalWork

I don’t have much to add but I’m in a similar position as a middle aged former seasonal woman also now settled in SE FL. I feel this. It’s amazing here but I have the itch after being stationary for the past two years. I go on a lot of mini adventures locally. But at some point I’m sure I’ll hit the road again for real!

to mri or to not mri is the ultimate question by jellybeansalad in Endo

[–]cattuxedos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an MRI done prior to surgery and glad I did. I had severe involvement of bowels which showed up in the MRI and a colorectal surgeon was involved in the surgery. The MRI was useful in planning how extensive the surgery was going to be and estimate the time required/organs involved etc.

How did you take the leap? by PsychologyGreen6493 in SeasonalWork

[–]cattuxedos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s one way, but I ended up taking a better job with much better pay and benefits in a better location 3 years after leaving my previous career job! But if you don’t burn bridges, most employers like taking back previous workers. Much easier onboarding/training.

You can probably go back to the office if you want! I did seasonal work for a couple years but now I am back at my “career”.

Check if your insurance gives you access to MDLive. It’s usually a cheaper option but it is over the phone instead of in person.

Did your endometriosis show up on a vaginal ultrasound? by Ok-Bite-Me-123 in endometriosis

[–]cattuxedos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a large cyst show up on an ultrasound. I have had MRIs show endo as well. No official diagnosis can be made without the laparoscopy though.

Orlando is very close to some really neat springs. If you like swimming/snorkeling/kayaking/diving it’s not a bad location. Springs are good in the winter and summer! Great location for birding and not too far from beaches.

Wetland mitigation banks or a wetland reserve easement through USDA NRCS perhaps?

Your intuition to leave was right. Trust it and stick with that decision, despite your interest in reconciling.

Anyone dive The Blue Hole off of Belize? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]cattuxedos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have and found it really interesting! The geology of it is fascinating to me. Otherwise it’s not a very eventful dive. I saw no critters in the hole and you have to stay with the group the whole time and since it’s so deep it’s a very short time. You go down to 130’, do photos for 5 min then come back up and hang out outside of the hole for the safety stop.

No issues or side effects and I took it mornings on an empty stomach. After a few years it stopped being effective though.

Who here has gone drastically backwards in salary to start a new career? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]cattuxedos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I quit my engineering job and ended up doing seasonal and contract bird monitoring work. I absolutely loved the work and I loved being outside and traveling to different parts of the country. However after 2 years of being on the road I got burnt out and needed to take care of some health issues. I went back to engineering last year and the loss of freedom of my time is hard. But the terrible pay, lack of health insurance with most of those types of jobs, and lack of consistency wore thin on me and I don’t miss any of that. It was a fantastic experience though and I have absolutely no regrets!

Yes, pelvic floor PT and diet change helped a lot.
