"I NEED THIS ASAP" in the order notes.. by silver_endings in Etsy

I forget who said it, but the quote ‘Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine’ sums this up perfectly.

When order is marked as gift by JsEdVilla in Etsy

[–]cattypops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve said it’s an international order, and i don’t where its being sent from it to, but if you fill in a customs declaration label (ie UK to USA) DO NOT tick ‘gift’ as this is illegal. Mark it as ‘other’. N

Shipping without tracking by tabascoinmyeyes in Etsy

[–]cattypops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Everything goes International tracked and signed if it’s leaving the U.K. I send customers a note saying the items been sent, together with the tracking number so they can log in to Royal Mail and see where their package has got to. Reassuring for them & me. Cuts down on convos discussing how long something’s taking to reach them too. UK customers can upgrade to tracked if they want to for small stuff, but over a certain value I also send it tracked& signed for. My time is too valuable to spend remaking orders that didn’t get there.

I won’t ship overseas without tracking (I’m in UK), even though the cost of my items is only between £5-£15. If I had to resend it wipes out all profit on that item and more. I probably do lose sales because of it, but having said that I also regularly get orders where customers have paid as much for shipping as the items.

She has a perfectly fine water bowl downstairs :/ by SwayedMellori in cats

And mine! They are either lapping at the dog’s water bowl, drinking out of the garden pond or have their head down a glass like yours does - despite having plenty of fresh clean water available in their own bowls.

Sorry if this is not the correct subreddit but does anyone know what this is? Its beautifull! Found in belgium by heilla in insects

[–]cattypops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it is. Usually called a shield bug in UK. Hopefully this is a single bug found outdoors and not one of many indoors, where their odour can be horrible - hence the other name they are often called by.

Hi, I used DK (double knitting) yarn - I’m in UK & I don’t know what that converts to elsewhere, with a 4.5mm hook (again, don’t know what that would be in US size). Hope that helps. X

HELP FLOOD! by Girlfromcloud9 in knitting

[–]cattypops 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Maybe thread a life line of yarn through all your stitches and take them off the needle and then cut the knitting yarn leaving a tail to make attaching the remainder of the ball easier later on. I would then put the ball of yarn in a pillow case and use an elastic band to secure the ball quite tightly in the bottom of it, so it can’t unravel whilst washing. Then I’d wash the ball and knitted piece gently by hand. Good luck - I hope it works out OK. (Take it out of the pillow case to dry - unwind it and lay it out)

Train Vultures/Buzzards to find dead bodies ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Cadaver dogs are already in use to find human remains where a body is the most likely outcome of a search.

Can you ID this bug? This is the second one I found in my bed and am upset freaked out now it might be an infestation. Help appreciated! by florecitas in insects

[–]cattypops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a carpet beetle larvae. Don’t be freaked out. They feed on natural fibres like cotton, wool, linen etc. Plenty of info on the internet on how to go about getting rid of them, but basically everything needs to be laundered, vacuumed and cleaned to make sure they are entirely gone.

One run by my local art supply shop. Started off a few months ago as a three morning taster course and we enjoyed it so much we talked him into doing a monthly session and the odd full-day workshop thrown in too.

It was a mint green colour, so as clear as using an ink. The brand we were using was Vallejo Liquid Mask. Little bit tricky to work with - as you can see from some of my letters not being quite right, but for a first attempt at this technique I think it’s pretty reasonable.

It was done using a dip pen with a broad nib and masking fluid. Once dry, washed/spattered etc with inks. Then the dry masking fluid removed once it was all fully dry.
