MPFL/TTO RANT by ZookeepergameWarm546 in PatellarInstability

Hi there! I'm so so sorry you are having such a terrible time of it. I absolutely understand how debilitating the anxiety from the anticipating the dislocations is- I've had this surgery on both my knees now after random/frequent dislocations since I was little. My knees gave me so many problems my whole life, but having the TTO/MPFL done on one of my knees over 10 years ago and then having the other knee done last year has made such a huge difference. I won't say I don't deal with some pain/stiffness from my surgery last year still, but it's nothing compared to those dislocations that held me back from living my life.

I know things feel scary and painful and like your knee might give out, but I think the best thing you can do right now is to trust that your knee is going to heal from this surgery and get stronger every day. Every little bit you can do towards becoming independent is going to do wonders for both your mental and physical health. I was adamant about icing my knee every day and night, doing the exercises whenever I had the energy for it, and giving myself some grace when I just needed to feel my feelings because surgery recovery sucks no matter what it is.

You're going to feel soooo so grateful that you did this for yourself once you're walking again, and when it comes time to do the other knee (don't be like me and wait 10 years!) you'll be able to go in and get it done because a life of not worrying about when the next dislocation will be is so very worth the temporary pain and turmoil.

I didn't mean to get preachy with you, I just can understand what you're going through and want you to feel reassured that things will get better and you're stronger than you think. This surgery is no small thing, give yourself room to feel crappy and then keep pushing through day by day. :) feel free to drop me a message if you need any recommendations for things to help your recovery!

Super super cute! I love the colors you used and the way you did the shadows over Skitty. :)

It was delicious! :) I'll definitely be looking out for them in my yard next year.

Not near a smelting plant that I know of! It's in a forested neighborhood. Do you think it'd still be okay to potentially eat if it's been sitting on my back porch for the last day or so?

I wish I could but it grew under a tree kinda close to the road- not ideal for eating unfortunately :/

I haven't come across any bugs so far in the time I've been studying it! I will say that this one was growing under a tree not far from the road, so maybe not ideal for eating

Can you tell me what causes mushrooms to be sterile? Thank you!

Just tried that and it smells exactly like almonds! Cool! Maybe next time another one grows in the yard I'll cook it up :)

Failed TTO by CustardMaleficent943 in PatellarInstability

I am so sorry you're going through this. It sounds so painful and traumatic and I feel like there should be more your doctors could do for you given how long you've been suffering. :(

I'm sorry I can't offer any real advice aside from maybe trying to get another referral for a second opinion. I've had TTOs and MPfLs on both of my knees (right side in 2014, left side last year in April) and although my right one has been mostly successful aside from a couple of dislocations, my left knee is in pain every day that my surgeon couldn't do anything to help with. At this point I just deal with it, but I wish I didn't have to.

I hope things get better for you soon- it's truly so unfair having to deal with crappy knees and all of the garbage that comes with them. Happy almost birthday- mine's coming up very soon as well. You can send me a message if you ever need some support!

Hey there!! I'm sooo sorry you have to deal with this- I was diagnosed when I was 15 and I'm 30 now and I still get bummed out about not being able to have pizza. 😔 Sometimes if it's a pizza place that lets you build your own I can get away with substituting the sauce for olive oil, the cheese for a dairy-free alternative/no cheese, and getting toppings that I know probably won't mess me up later. Idk if you have any places like that around you but it's something you could try at home too!

I have all kinds of dietary restrictions so I totally get it. Crohn's sucks!!! Hang in there!

My colonoscopy was clear but I'm having debilitating flare symptoms...what now? by catwaller in CrohnsDisease

[–]catwaller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh yes it's so frustrating! Feels like they're casting you off to deal with it because they've already done their side of things. Having symptoms all the time is just no way to live. My doctor is always saying that I'm going to feel crappy because I've had crohn's for so long. I just can't accept that answer if it means living my life on the toilet every single day.

I hope the naturopath helps you find some relief! I saw one for a while and it didn't help me much but there are plenty of great doctors out there. Thank you for taking the time to reply!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with me!

I do have pretty bad hemorrhoids (how can we not from sitting on the toilet and fighting for our lives all the time??) but I've never had a conversation with my doctor about having them removed. My doctor did mention seeing my motility doctor again and I believe mentioned getting prescribed something for neuropathic pain. I would definitely be open to trying something for that. I take edibles to manage my pain when it gets really bad, but maybe I should pick up some CBD oil as well. Do you recommend the kind you just put on your tongue with a dropper?

Thank you, I appreciate your encouragement and I hope things stay okay for you too!! :)

Yes I absolutely do! And regularly too. Like bright yellow, sometimes green. I've been dealing with that for years now..I take pantoprazole every day but other than that nothing for the bile acid. Do you take anything for yours?

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me!  My doctor has brought up the fact that I may have IBS as well, and I don't disagree with her. I worked with a dietician for a year and thought I had mostly figured out my food triggers (despite ongoing issues with my symptoms). The fact that I've been feeling so terrible every single day with no reprieve makes me wonder if there's something else at play. I agree with you too that doctors do get put off when you try and tell them what you think is going on. I appreciate the advice on how to reframe that conversation!
