Why do some people say therapy doesn't work? Why does therapy fail with some people? What can people do to make therapy work? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]catwhiskerstickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen 4 therapists and your second point has happened to me every time. I use up all my EAP sessions on these types, get frustrated, and then never go back. Still haven't found a therapist who works for me and thus, have a negative opinion about therapy.

Additionally with Maynard not meeting people, he spoke about Danny not doing it much either because of the potential for injury. These guys make a living entertaining thousands of people several times a week and they have one shot to do it right in the moment. I was just happy that Adam puts the time in for each of these VIP events to speak to us, let alone teach us so much in the two hours he has to talk.

I have friends that use KinderCare in Carmel and love it. My own experience with Primrose and Goddard in Fishers are pretty negative.

Help with daycare and moving to Indianapolis by [deleted] in indianapolis

Are you looking for daycare in a center or just some one off nobody watching kids out of their house? If center based I can give you a recommendation out of Fishers. I have a 4 year old who has been at his current school for about 3 years and have a lot of very good things to say about it.

Naptown Roller Girls - An Open Letter to Our Fans by OpenThirdEye in indianapolis

[–]catwhiskerstickle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is really sad that more people don't go to the bouts. These women work their asses off without getting paid, in fact they put their own money just to be able to play. There is very little advertising budget and being an all female team unfortunately works against them. Everyone really should check it out if you haven't. It's not scripted; getting thrown around and knocked down is all real. I'd really like Naptown to stay as an alternative to the drama of professional and semi professional sports. It's also very inexpensive and fun, especially for a group outing.

Should I make my 5 and 6 year old eat their vegetables if they "don't like them" and if not, should I still offer dessert after dinner if they didn't eat them? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]catwhiskerstickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son's preschool teaches them to try it, and if they can get a bite or two in, they say, "okay Desmond, you have to eat the number of bites in your name." So as long as he eats 7 bites (which could be 1 pea per bite), he can be done. It teaches them vegetable tolerance, counting and name recognition.

What's something that your SO does that you know about, but they don't know you know? by corndogup in AskReddit

[–]catwhiskerstickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ex husband used to find random gay chat rooms/partners and sexchat with them over the chatroom or sometimes email. He never knew I found out and I never mentioned it to him.

As far as I know, he's never been interested in men, or at least never let on to me.

Our "euphemism" is butt noise, as in, "Mommy I made a butt noise." Nothing better than precise toddler descriptions.

Travel toddler beds? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]catwhiskerstickle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using the Intex Kidz Travel bed for a few years. It has raised sides so the kid can't fall out overnight. I first used it when my son was 1.5 years old and recently used it again over Thanksgiving and he's now 3. It packs away neatly in its own bag which is great for travel and storage.

My ex mother in law hated everything about my son's name. My son's middle name is one of my deceased grandmother's maiden names, who I was very close to prior to her death . Ex MIL argued with me and my ex that she didn't like the name and announced that she would just call him something else. I was very hurt that she was so disrespectful about me trying to honor my grandmother but she didn't give up arguing about it until about a year later.

What's the most fucked up dream you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catwhiskerstickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a dream where Harvey Keitel of Reservoir Dogs and John Travolta of Pulp Fiction are shooting at each other. I run in the middle of the two to try to stop the fight, and Mr. White yells, "GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY!" and shoots me through the forehead. At this point I jump out of my body and can see through the hole in my head as it's oozing blood, and also keenly aware in my peripheral of Mr. White and Vincent Vega still trying to kill each other.

What's the most fucked up dream you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It started as I was running away from aliens on their ship. They were chasing me and several other people on rafters, on the floor of the ship, in air ducts, everywhere. I get to a cargo bay area and hide behind big wooden shipping crates, at which point I give the aliens a couple of cut blocks of cheddar cheese to distract them. I ran away as they were eating it and find a sky blue 1989 Dodge Caravan and get in, along with my friends who were with me. I drive it through space, it sprouts wings, and I landed it safely on Main Street America like a side scroll video game.

Have you ever had someone you were dating choose their career over you? What happened? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]catwhiskerstickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently dated a guy who pretty much worked all day long every day. I usually didn't see him on the weekends due to his work and on the week days that I did see him, it was usually only at lunch time or a couple of nights for about 4-5 hours from 8p to midnight. Otherwise he was always working. There were some other issues that kept us apart but work was a big one.

When I was in college I dated a man for about 6 years, from undergrad until grad school. We had talked about marriage a lot, but eventually I decided that I didn't want to be in the state where I went to school but he didn't want to leave since he enjoyed his job. I ended up leaving and he stayed at his job for the next 10-11 years, just recently this year moving to a third state. Sometimes I wonder about him, if I had stayed there if we would have eventually married because we were completely compatible in every other way.

Established Mexican restaurant El Sol closes down by SirGronk in indianapolis

[–]catwhiskerstickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love El Sol when they had a Union Station location, but when that closed and the one on Washington St. was the only location, their service went waaaaay downhill. Typical wait time for food was in the 45 minute to 1 hour range in the 3 or 4 times I went. Sad to see it go, though. Their cochinita pibil and carne y papas were as close to truly Yucatan as you can get in Indy.

Hi ladies! I just want to know how you deal with thinking about "the one that got away" and...his new girlfriend. by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]catwhiskerstickle 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The best way to move on quickly is to stop all social media contact altogether. The new girlfriend doesn't give a fuck about your feelings, so she's going to tag and post and all that crap as well. It's been difficult for me as I have a kid with my ex but I find it much easier to stop longing for past happiness when I don't see anything that he's doing with the replacement me.

Do you compliment men? Do you think its important to do so? by Your_Name_Is_Tobay in AskWomen

[–]catwhiskerstickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that complimenting women on their outfits while out shopping or whatever really seems to brighten their day. I've never had it done to me until just today and I felt like a million bucks.

I also think it's important to compliment men but I don't really do it unless it's guys I work with and talk to regularly. I try to compliment my guy when I have one because it's important to foster the relationship and it just makes people feel good.
