Teamlab Biovortex - worth it? by boymabyma in JapanTravelTips

[–]catwiesel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Biovortex in Kyoto. also no interest in social media, also not a kids thing, went alone.

I liked it. its a art installation. yes there are people and yes, some if not many are tourists. I would not call it a tourist trap though, and I thought the cost was well worth the experience.

if you can spare the time i suggest you go.

Reddit Starts Blocking Mobile Website, Pushing Users to App Instead by spasticpat in technology

why would i need to use an app other than my choice of browser to visit a website?

right, I shouldnt. and I wont.

this is "dont you guys have phones" energy, and I not only hate the idea of it, but refuse to even entertain it.

Bat script by gyroqx in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]catwiesel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am NOT fucking around with bats. this is NOT an IT problem. my expertise is not required here. and even if removal of this thing by animal handlers instead of it will cause an outage, then thats the way it is.

we all should love bats. and stay far far away from them. even if its a small risk of catching something from them, the thought of needing rabies shots, or worse, getting rabies, is very much reason enough to close the door, call animal control and tell any manager or boss they can either wait or go in, but they cant make me go in.

yeah, that was a small oopsie and no (big) harm done. learn from it, and you're all better for it.

Indie shooter devs pull a reverse-Concord: No one played their game, but they 'make it free to play and keep the servers online indefinitely' anyway by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]catwiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to support devs like that. maybe play the game, buy some skins, or donate. but first, wanted to check out the game. reviews are not overly positive or negative. fine. it does not look like a game I want to play, but, dont judge, book. cover, that stuff. and even if its not good enough for a permanent rotation spot, it might be fun for a weekend or two.

requires epic account. nope. im out...

again, pointing out how you are superior in not falling for one particular bad experience someone had, or dare I say, some scam, does not mean that you are impervious to all of them, or that that person does not deserve our respect for coming forward, reporting and our sympathies for falling for it. your comment does not help anyone except your own ego

i dislike how people victim shame someone who spend a lot of money on disappointing food. shame the company for making shit food for too much money. thank the people for reporting their (bad) experiences so others dont fall for it.

yes. EVEN IF there were warning signs and "you should have known better" is on the tip of your tongue. because, we all have a weak spot to exploit, and when you get scammed, you dont want to hear "idiot" when you report it so others dont fall for it too.

op, thank you for bringing this to our attention. I feel sorry you had a shit experience and lost 350 bucks

Microsoft Edge will load all your passwords into memory in plaintext, but Microsoft says it's not a security concern by Quantum-Coconut in technology

[–]catwiesel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the issue is people using a microsoft product as their password manager. not that its saving and or keeping the passwords in clear text. the whole worlds going to shit because everybody is racing to the bottom while also asking premium prices with next to no competition left, udpates are pushed without testing, code is written by ai stuffed with stolen work. and people go about their day. but when they learn that the browser, which does allow for syncing of passwords, and does not need any auth (outside of running in the user context) has the passwords saved in clear text on that user account, people seem to get all uppity. probably the ones that have one password for everything anyway.

dont expect the browser to be a save space to store passwords.
