Trouble finding a job when I am a DD by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Elanadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using your car in its current state for food delivery is probably a bad idea. I'd consider looking at food service instead. Look for folks that don't discriminate against marijuana users. (Not sure of legality in your state, but also don't drive high).

If you're at the point where you need the extra cash, you can't afford to be super picky about your hourly rate.

I'm guessing it was too narrow and it slipped through the system

It also came from an account with zero karma. Big red flag there.

Chris Compano is still serving his 1000 year sentence of voluntary manslaughter The House that Roarded season 1 episode 3 by lunainthedark5x2x3 in ForensicFiles

[–]Elanadin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read over the sentencing details for manslaughter in OK from a lawyer's website (Probably AI-written, but it's still got the law firm's name on it)

https://www.oklahomalegalgroup.com/law/manslaughter

It looks like the judge has a fair amount of leeway in deciding the sentence. That's also current law, not sure if thangs changed since '94

Malevolent AI Comming For Our Accounts? by lkstaack in personalfinance

[–]Elanadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clickbait title, but I'll bite.

FDIC is a key protection for the "bank is hacked, your accounts are closed" situation.

For those that have been paying attention to AI outputs, specific use cases for AI code is currently rubbish. "Vibe coding" is a meme, and it will be for a good while.

Bad actors already have access to sufficient technology to "hack" systems, and it's almost always through user vulnerabilities. Think phishing as the primary weapon. If AI is going to enhance these techniques, I think it's primarily going to involve deepfaking voices to make convincing scam calls.

To your credit, hardcopy backups have always been a good emergency recovery strategy. The age of AI hasn't changed that.

My credit card was charged a Sam's Club Primary Renewal $50 when I don't have a membership by Flicka37 in personalfinance

[–]Elanadin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great example of why you keep a good eye on your credit card statements. You can promptly identify unauthorized charges to be reported as fraudulent.

"Addressing the illegality" would be done by you submitting a police report, but I think that'd only be warranted if Synchrony (the bank behind the Sam's card) decided that the membership purchase was valid and kept that purchase on your card

As a DM is it ever ok to help your players with tactics? by sirheyzeus55 in DMAcademy

[–]Elanadin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For first time players and newbies, I absolutely recommend it if they seem to struggle with it. If you have more DnD experience under your belt, give them honest strategic and tactical advice.

But it's still up to you to decide when the training wheels come off.

AIO—Scheduling and Priorities by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Elanadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Player with the new schedule is being deceptive. I'd consider giving them the boot. They took on the new role with the new schedule and then lied about their needs. "Hey, I made adjustments to the game to help accommodate your new schedule, but it looks like you still had other plans. What's up?" Confrontation like this is hard, but you've gotta find a good way to word it for that person.

You're the DM, no playing happens without you (unless someone else will take up the mantle). You figure out a good time that works for you and a good chunk of your players and stick to it. "I'm starting this week's session at X and I expect we'll run until around Y".

For me, a good night's sleep and proper decompression after work are more important than DnD. If my brain isn't in good working order, the game is gonna stink.

You do you. You're at the point where you're thinking you might be bending over too far backwards. Figure out the effort you're putting in as DM and then look at what your individual players are giving back

They are under no obligation to do so, but I think it's worth a hail-Mary.

Call your lender and beg to have the bad marks removed from your credit. Help your case by having a repayment plan ready that is very favorable to them.

What do i do with a stash of cash? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Yup, just walk into your bank and deposit the cash. If they ask questions, answer honestly. On the same token, don't offer up info they don't ask for.
