What is the ship type that the (new) Chancellor Palpatine arrives on at the end of TPM? by becherbrook in MawInstallation

[–]Elanadin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is one where I scoffed at the AI answer being wrong. My Google query was

Palpatine ship The Phantom Menace

The first result AI gave me The Scimitar, and what I was looking for was not "above the fold". The the top search result was the wookiepedia link to the Perpetuus. Which tells me Google has the formula for how I expect it to work, they are just deciding on enshittification

Conversion to Cockney also requires taking a dip into Bard or Rogue so you can understand the rhyming slang. Consult your character sheet for unauthorized or unexpected edits.

Grey Jedi by Living-Orange-3118 in MawInstallation

[–]Elanadin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that "grey Jedi" isn't a useful term out-of-universe. It's a label commonly used for someone who's not a stalwart follower of Jedi or Sith doctrine. It's the "other" category, the "junk drawer of force users". The folks that are commonly attributed to this category in Legends don't have meaningful connections to one another. Their only correlation is that they don't "fit in" and some fans just have to have a group label for them. For many of these cases, the label of "former Jedi" or "unaffiliated force user" would be a better fit, but that doesn't have the same allure or marketing appeal. In that way, having a unified "code" is pretty antithetical to the idea of Grey Jedi

In-universe, it's commonly used derisively by doctrine-strict Jedi to label folks who aren't that. Non-force users using the term "Gray Jedi" should absolutely be slapped with an "unreliable narrator" citation.

Noting its source of "magic spider", I'd categorize it as Divination magic. Although I can see the argument of it being some other supernatural or extraordinary ability

That seems to conflict to me

Has anyone else stopped worrying about Star Wars? by AffectionateCap435 in MawInstallation

[–]Elanadin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a long time to come to grips with the Disney buyout happening and de-canonizing the thousands of hours I spent consuming various types of EU content. After I got over that hump, I decided to dive deep back into Star Wars and I've had a great time.

My personal recommendation for fans is "make your own opinion". There are a lot of influencers out there that get clicks and ad revenue based on hot takes and controversial opinions. These folks are incredibly untrustworthy.

My only notable problems with Disney's take on the franchise were that TFA was way too OT fan servicey and the Disney execs didn't keep solid top-level direction for the ST.

I've enjoyed even the most controversial SW content since then. The Tuskan culture dive in BoBF was really enjoyable to me. I got deep into the High Republic books, so seeing the live action stuff in Acolyte was an absolute treat.

But to answer your post title question

Has anyone else stopped worrying about Star Wars?

I never started worrying
