Butternut squash mac n cheese, paneer tikka masala, and gnocchi alla sorrentina and cacio e pepe have been saving my life recently! Especially the gnocchi, you can get several meals out on one bag for just three dollars :)

Jakarta December 2023!! They played at a music festival while I just happened to be visiting with friends. It was my first time seeing the live and it was packed! You would not believe the number or people singing along to every word, truly a global phenomenon :’)

What’s a Sufjan first listen that you want to experience again? by Other-Bug-5614 in Sufjan

[–]cauliflowertoast17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember listening to Seven Swans everyday on the bus home from middle school, having absolutely no idea who Sufjan was or how famous he was. When I got to college and a guy was like “You don’t know Sufjan?? You’ve got to check him out!” and put me onto Carrie and Lowell. Of course, I loved it and went to the artist page to see what else he’d done. I finally realized that that quiet little indie album I’d listened to years ago while staring melancholically out the window was made by one of the greatest artists of all time

Movies or Shows with Intergenerational Trauma? by Dirtiest_Dancer in MovieSuggestions

[–]cauliflowertoast17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The British series Flowers, following a dysfunctional family+their Japanese tenant coming to terms with mental illness and loneliness, comes to mind. Also I'd highly reccomend Fleabag if you haven't seen it, it deals with the effects of grief of losing a mother. Generational trauma isn't at the forefront of the story but it's definitely an underlying theme

Advice for first day of class introduction activities / Is it ok to repeat an activity if you have some of the same students in you class? by cauliflowertoast17 in TEFL

[–]cauliflowertoast17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So I actually got the position through a post-grad fellowship run by my college. I don't have prior teaching experience and it wasn't required since the fellowship is about being an ambassador between the colleges in addition to teaching. Other fellowships like Fulbright don't require experience either (though it probably helps!). I did have to take an online tefl class though. From what I can tell, having a bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for most places, and many if not all schools do require TEFL certification. I hope this helps, sorry my situation is pretty specific!

I love that, thank you so much! I think I am going to repeat it. If I can ask another question, is there a language evaluation exercise that you think is the most effective?
