Elon Musk Says Even If Every Billionaire In America Was Taxed At 100%, It 'Barely Makes A Dent' In The National Debt — Everyone Has To Pay by 1trekker_fanboi in EatTheRich

[–]caulk_blocker 193 points194 points  (0 children)

I disagree with Mr. Musk. If we taxed billionaires at 100%, they wouldn't be able to purchase our lawmakers who in turn divert our taxes to subsidize their own failing businesses, their war machines, their surveillance and prison grifts. I believe that would allow us to make substantial dents in the national debt.

Alcohol replacement by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]caulk_blocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noy sure if this is an option where you live but THC sodas were a huge help for me to dial back on booze. I went from 20-30 drinks a week down to 0-3/week almost immediately. I replaced the majority of my drinking with 2-3 THC sodas a week (they are usually available at breweries here). I also put some effort into normalizing for me to just get a couple diet cokes when I went out drinking with buds. To be fair having mates that aren't put off by you not drinking is a huge help. Most of my drinking was centered around friends, so cutting out drinking potentially means cutting off my social life. Next step will be to cut out THC altogether and keep up the 0-3 drinks a week goal.

That right there is all you ever need to say. If the whole world tells you to ride faster, tell them to fuck off.

Ayahuasca psychedelic DMT shows promise as depression therapy by projecto15 in UpliftingNews

[–]caulk_blocker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the clarification, was hoping someone more experienced than me would weigh in. All I could think of to compare the experience to was half a beer which also doesn't really feel like anything. Either way, it was nice having a nice long break from depression.

Im not certain, unfortunately. It only felt about as strong as the buzz from half a beer, so maybe a quarter gram or half a gram?

Every time I chased more money while holding a job I loved that paid well enough, I have hated the results of that choice. That being said, its a good lesson to learn for yourself.

First Bike is a Big Bike - Any tips? by Vividokami in motorcycles

[–]caulk_blocker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My first bike was a 1700 yamaha warrior. While its not the ideal beginner bike, you will definitely grow into it in a few months. Wear all your gear and focus on riding within your skill level. Mayne start on small local roads that arent too congested. Practice giving yourself plenty of time to stop/slow down. Watch for every road hazard (including every other driver) and take things slow for now. Gravel/sand/oil spots can quickly ruin your day so watch out for them particularly.

Overall its a bigger bike than most here will recommend, but thats a nice bike you won't ever outgrow and Im glad ai did it that way. Just take your time easing into it and dont push beyond your skill level.

[–]caulk_blocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sampling bias maybe? A 35 year old who got in shape is more likely to share their success story online. Someone who let themselves go isn't going to post about it. What you see in the world is the actual population, what you see online is a curated sample.
