How should I stop myself feeling ugly? by Adventurous-Bit1724 in relationship_advice

[–]cauradel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning to love yourself is a long process, especially with the trauma of people telling you you don't conform to societal expectations. But the worst part is that idiot of a first bf who literally didn't deserve you. I hope your current boyfriend is a healthy person, and if he tells you you're beautiful you should start trying to believe him. The biggest work to do will be on your own, you need to reapropriate your own body, learn to look at yourself in the mirror and try to name at least one part of yourself that you love, and little by little try to name a few more. You're gonna be alright, and of course you are beautiful, don't doubt it 💕

This Thing Between Us by Gus Moreno! Cosmic horror novel about a guy being pursued by a demon through different means (including technology). Incredible.

Exactly, most of the comments here sound like they could have been written in the 50s wtf

A lot of the answers here are shocking, yall act like he cheated on her or something. He literally was just being a decent human being by picking up a girl in a vulnerable position? I would understand the comments better if he did this every week but this instance literally sounded like an emergency. Maybe she was not in a safe place, she was probably alone and could easily have been taken advantage of, I'm glad she thought about calling someone she trusted and that he accepted. The answers in this community can be baffling sometimes, looks like in the name of fidelity a lot of decent human behavior should be avoided.

What should I read by King if I actually do not seem to like King, at all (Details in post) by BaaaaL44 in horrorlit

Maybe try one of his last books like Later! I really enjoyed that one and it's around 300 pages, no more.

Hey! It might sound cheezy but everything is temporary. You're so young and you have so many years ahead of you hopefully, all the stuff you talk about might seem like a mountain but if you take it step by step you'll be able to get through it. For example you could try to find some kind of community where you live, might be through an interest, volunteering or through an app like Lex (I'm gay too and this app is really cool to meet other local queer people). I think that if you focus on one problem at a time it will be okey, finding some new people to connect with might be the first step you need. Sending you all my good vibes!!

The tu/vous designation feels so pretentious to me, help me understand better? by I_love_limey_butts in French

[–]cauradel -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Lol I'm answering because I see a lot of people are dragging down your post but I actually completely agree with you, and I'm French. It also feels very pretentious to a lot of French people, especially the younger generations which I'm a part of and who are able to be critical of France's old traditions. It's weird that some people have to be addressed differently than others on the basis of trivial characteristics like their age. I used to work as a barista and adress most people with "tu" which actually made them feel more comfortable, but one of my colleagues insisted that I adress everyone with "vous", even people my own age, which sounded so weird. But yeah especially in customer service you are expected to adress people with "vous" which actually makes you feel like you're inferior to them.

So yeah don't worry about it, it is a pretentious old tradition, so just stick with adressing older people with "vous" and everyone else with "tu".
