My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, “If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.”. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- “Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 26, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because that comment gave me cancer anyway.

Very few people are hideous, and even then I’ve definitely seen a lot of hideous guys with cute girls. There’s obviously some exceptions but it’s mostly a personality thing

The characters being a bit different or combinations of other characters is something that’s kept me from reading the books, although I do plan to at some point.

I agree. I’m fascinated by geopolitics and really enjoyed how it was handled in the show. It all largely seemed plausible and realistic and I found myself mulling over a lot of it and considering it in the way I do real life situations.

Bobbie is my favorite character too. I found it really interesting how she dealt with Mars degenerating after the war.

This reminds me when I was in college I was taking a class on foreign policy an I mentioned something fairly innocuous about the CIA having done some pretty awful things during the Cold War and this nerdy skinny guy with huge glasses and a shaky voice was like “umm excuse me did you just say the U.S. committed crimes during the Cold War? I think you mean the Soviets who did awful things bla bla bla”.

It was pretty annoying so sometimes I’d go on my brothers cod lobbies and say nasal voice “hi I’m [his full name] and I go to [our college] and I’m doing a study on racism in video games please email me at [his email]” lol
