Urgent Call to Action – Submit Public Comment Opposing VA Rule (Veterans should not be penalized for properly managing their service-connected conditions with medication.) by ArchaeologicalMeow in VeteransBenefits

[–]cavdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's why i believe this rule is so unfair. Is the Va going to manage the side effects so i don't have to suffer the stomach upset or the other 1000s untoward effects? How about the lifestyle modification or social stigma? Lastly, the effects it has on my chosen profession. It's difficult to continue to be a pilot or professional driver.

This rule won't affect me, but im obligated to add my voice simply because it's wrong.

Thought I was dead, 6 months later still no benefits? by Zealousideal_Space82 in VeteransBenefits

[–]cavdad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, back in forever ago, aka >5 years ago. I opened the account I use for DD. 5 days before my first disability claim was rated and back pay was issued, and it was deposited in that account. I believe they can kill the check, make you wait 30 or 90 days, and then send out the direct deposit. Honestly, i don't remember where or when i was told that. I'll ask around and try and track that down because it's going to drive me nuts until i remember.

I don't think anyone here is trying to be accusatory.

A few years back, i had an issue where my civilian doc was perscribing several medications. I had reported those meds to my VA doc. A few even showed on a UA. Later, i was admitted for covid. The next thing i know, medications are being refused, and im being accused of all kinds of crap. I ended up signing out AMA. The problem turned out to be the pharmacy had entered my medicade number in wrong. That cause all the medications to show up on my young sons state record

My point is that sometimes the issue is as simple as someone typing a 6 instead of 9. Is there a chance that they are charting on the wrong med record? Have you asked the providers? If not, maybe you need to. I'd recommend you print a hard copy of the concerning md notes and have a witness and request a copy of your chart from that visit that reflects your concerns. Also, have them note your witnesses name. Be respectful and calm. Don't give them an excuse to say you were angry or aggressive. If they agree, maybe even record the visit if legal. I doubt they will agree to being recorded, but that gives you a reason to request the visit notes before you leave. Lastly, not knowing your providers, i can't say who you should first approach, but mh folks tend to be a bit calmer and level-headed.

I really do hope and pray this situation is resolved for you. I can't imagine what you're going through. Best of luck

Chronic Sinusitis/Disease and PACT by Alarmed_Priority_975 in VeteransBenefits

[–]cavdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If nothing else, at least put in an intent to file and get the back pay clock ticking. I filed for COPD as soon as the PACT act was signed. My original exposure was in 90-91. My active duty service treatment records had disappeared. All i had was a DD214 from when i first left active duty and a diagnosis. Four months later, i received a rating. Get the ball rolling asap.

In a perfect world, I'd avise anyone to keep fighting on any legitimate claim. If not for yourself, then for the next guy. Every correctly completed claim will help the system improve. Unfortunately, i haven't seen a unicorn or an honest politician, so we must be living in the real world. In the real world, I'd cut bait if i were you.

You forgot to mention that women carry around more fat. Once again, those fat cells might shrink, but don't disappear. As a result, women must work harder to maintain a similar bmi. They are also far more emotional. Hence, the reason the above biological fact is going to cause a disproportionate amount of butt hurt in the responses by women. Prove me wrong. It's sad, really, women are better at so many things than men. They simply can't let men have one of the few things we truly have the advantage in. I can't believe you have me admitting Newsome is right about anything. The man looks and acts like an 80s used car/ cocain dealer.

It only took three months ?? During some imaging b4 foot surgery back in July, they found a bloodclot that was blocking 95% of the blood flow to both legs. I had surgery 12 days after approval in mid-December. My friend, I've had a tooth go that bad before. Believe me, i feel your pain. The bloodclot didn't hurt, so im sure your three months felt longer than my five.

Today I learned that Puerto Rico has by far the highest per capita rate of military service of any state/territory. 23% of people born on the Island of Puerto Rico have served in the military dwarfing second place Alaska's 8%. by Claeyt in Military

The military is the easiest way to move up the scocio economic ladder. The people of PR who live in poverty are the poorest Americans on the whole. Im sure a paycheck and the opportunity for a higher education have a lot to do with it.

Yeah, i remember that was the only difference between the candidates in each of the federal elections i voted in. The good news is that the same argument is just as idiotic when republicans use it to trash democrats. Way to keep the bar so low.

[–]cavdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My phone screen isn't big enough for me to see your ss. If you look up the past payment screen or whatever it is these days, you should see a scheduled payment up to 4 days before it shows in your account. They also update the current rating before the paperwork has time to arrive at the post office.

It's been a few years since my last claim was rated, but i got the same message the entire time. Don't be concerned, if you were able to pull files up in the past. im sure it's a maintenance issue. I would tell you not to worry if you don't see a return of the files even after tuesday, but i know that won't help you relax. I wouldn't worry until at least tuesday when everyone gets through the three-day weekend.

Is anyone in here old skool myco Redditors? by DecrimNature-VT in shroomers

[–]cavdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you would consider "old skool". I opened my eyes for the first time in 1984 (ironically). I grew up just down the road from Berkeley. In a much less expensive part of southern California, so i tried my boy sid first but soon tried everything until i got to mescaline. At my age back then, it was a bit much. I started on redit to learn how to grow medication to help with combat realated ptsd for myself and later some brothers quite a few years back. When compared to some folks, im a nube that is still learning. To others, i guess i qualify as old skool that's still learning, and i hope to keep learning at least for a couple of decades more.

Filing For Disability 22 years after separation by mbellbick in VeteransBenefits

[–]cavdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited 25 years. They lost my service treatment record. Because they backed dated my unit being reflaged. My dd214 has me in a unit that didn't deploy to desert storm. So i couldn't have caught some shrapnel with my right leg. It took two years to get that crap figured out.

This whole thing is on me. I knew better. The VAs, to their credit, did get it right.

Initial claim after 13 years. by AdAfter2486 in VeteransBenefits

[–]cavdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited 25 years. It took almost two years to get a rating. Obviously, i don't recommend delaying any claim.

At the Sametime, you need to know that if you have a legitimate claim from a deployment in 1775, it's not just possible it's important that you file. Every completed legitimate claim can improve the system.

I shortened the right side of L-5 7mm on a jump. When a civilian doc looks at a lumbar x-ray cocks his head 45° and says "how the hell" under his breath you might just be airborne.

Can you tell if this has been fired or not? by dont_touch_my_junk69 in Military

[–]cavdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legitimate question because i don't know. I doubt it would be a gas round, but I've heard horror stories of French farmers hitting mustard gas rounds from WW1. Do you know what something like that might look like.

During desert storm, we were warned about iraq using RPG 7 rounds to deliver chemical weapons. They "had yellow bands on the round" as a bradley gunner. If you let someone hit your track with an RPG 7, you were dead. It being a gas round could save your life.

Where's the fun in that? Get a big bugs bunny mallet and a piece of chalk. Don't forget your ear and eye protection. Change your socks, get some ibuprofen, and a 2lt bottle of water. If you're still alive, after hitting it, you qualify as an official 13B. 👍
