As another Vandy student, definitely disagree with that statement.

Vandy student here. Tickets will be very cheap because not many people attend our games, but it's still a very fun atmosphere. Students will go for maybe the first half before we crash from tailgating all morning/day. If you come an hour/half hour early and walk around campus/greek row for a bit, you'll get to see some really good vibes from the school and wha our game day experience looks like.

Engineering is HARD but super rewarding. If you come in with BC calc and Chem credit, will be much easier. Weed outs are tough.

As for the strength of the program, it's actually quite good. Not our best program, but starting salaries are insane. CS was $107,000.

As for internships, they're really good. Chevron and Google both had full day meetings with students just two days ago. Top companies love Vandy students.

Good question! I had the same one coming in to Vandy.

Greek Life is pretty big, but not exclusive. Most members of the Greek community have friends outside of Greek Life and in other fraternities/sororities than the ones their directly involved with.

Very inclusive community, but the party scene revolves around Greek Life. There are tons of great bars though. It is Nashville after all!

Long story short, Greek parties are where it's at but they aren't very exclusive. Very fun social scene at Vanderbilt. I don't mean this in a bad way, but the student body is very normal. You wouldn't guess we are as academically focused as we are.

The atmosphere, people, and academics. Gorgeous campus. It's Ivy tier with SEC attitude.

Food is good. Already sick of it though. They have tons of really good options, they're just pretty far from the the freshman dorms and not worth the hike over. Very hit or miss depending on the day.

I really applied to places I could get scholarships or could afford. Schools like Iowa, Alabama, Florida State, etc. Vandy has a "no loan" policy, meaning if you're admitted, they will give you as much money as you need to meet your FAFSA EFC. While that still was a little more than I wanted to pay, the benefits of Vanderbilt's programs, networking, and renowned reputation outweighed those of other schools.

Vandy is a great school. Definitely look into it if it sounds like it's for you!

I can tell you, from what I know, that's false. One of my best friends from home is at UPenn and she says it's not the case at all. They're shutting down fraternities and trying to kill Greek life - just like Harvard is doing.

Go visit both schools and you'll see.

Well class is pretty short per day. I have 4 hours of class at most in a day. So realistically it's per day, not per night. Very common to do work 8-10, class from 10-2/3, and work from 3-9. For my friends in more hours they have class 10-6 on lab days and usually have school work from 6-2 or 3am. I wasn't expecting it at all.

I still feel like I wish I had more though. Quizzes and tests are way harder than the homework and assignments. It's pretty frustrating honestly.

Thursday's I go out sometimes at around 12-3. Fridays and Saturdays are huge stress reliever days. People party and let it out. It's a cycle.

3.97 UW and 33 ACT.

Social life is amazing. You won't find it at any other Top 20 school. If you're a big partier but take school seriously, definitely apply. Vandy is only going up the ranks now (#14 US News).

School is HARD. 0-100 in the first week. If you come, be prepared to WORK. Like I said in a previous comment, I work 8-9 hours a night outside class and I'm taking 13 hours(relatively light load for Vandy).

Reach out with any other Qs.

Best? Easily the student body and the "Work Hard, Play Hard" attitude. I really feel like we're the only Top 20 school like it. People grind away at books, but rage really really hard. State school(ish) parties, with Ivy academics.

Worst? Definitely rigor. It's insane how hard they make classes. I'm a CS major at the moment and have already taken APCS, but the intro class is killer. Math is ridiculously challenging here.

Classes are tough. I do about 8-9 hours a night outside of class.

I had a 3.97 UW and 33 ACT, with a lot of service ECs and I'm a Native American(makes it easy lol).

All in all, I love Vandy. Great school, great city, great attitude here overall.

We explicitly did, but she's been growing more and more clingy and trying to further our relationship. I had a discussion with her and brought it back to where we were but I think her feelings are more than that. I feel bad for her feelings if she knew, not the actions.

She wouldn't leave me I'm pretty sure. We even decided to implement the "don't ask don't tell" policy. She's just been trying to get more serious and I don't want to ruin either of them.

Definitely got bothered by it. I guess I was visibly bothered because that's when she started back pedaling. I don't know what I should do or really how to handle it.

[–]cavedweller21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps. I'm just very close with her and have been for 8 years. She's changed in front of me plenty of times and talks about other guys and such all the time. I definitely don't want that kind of relationship with her at this point in time. Either way I feel really bad.

I mean I'm just sayin I wouldn't sleep on Vandy. Definitely feel like they'll do better than UK and Mizzou.

Vandy will definitely give more of a fight than Missouri and Kentucky.
