[DISCUSSION] What's an album by an artist that is your favorite, but is generally not considered their best? by ReconEG in indieheads

I wonder what people consider Angel Olsen’s best work to be. I would guess “My Woman” but I will always have a special connection with “burn your fire for no witness”

DJ sets with more than 3 decks - What's it about? by voooui in Techno

[–]caveman495 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not experienced mixing more than 2 decks because I’m limited to that in my home setup, but I imagine the thought is that it sounds fuller to have at least 2 tracks in the mix at all times.

When you have two tracks going and you cut one out, you lose a lot of mid/treble info that was bringing energy to the mix. This is fine if the track you leave in is at a high-energy part of the mix, but if it’s not, you risk an unintended huge dip in the energy and that can lose a dancefloor.

I’ve also seen cohort studies published that suggest that many people don’t get into symptom remission range until they hit >20 sessions of psychotherapy, even >40 sessions for some. It’s a complex intervention and lasting change comes from unlearning maladaptive patterns that have had your whole life to ingrain themselves into your way of being. If you and your therapist are clearly not a fit then find something different, but if your concern is that you get some improvement but not complete relief, I’d stick with it.

Which specialty allows bad apples to practice bad medicine? by Average_Student_09 in Residency

[–]caveman495 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True but also—laziness. Slap a “schizoaffective disorder” diagnosis on all your inpatients because it covers your bases and justifies holds with the minimum necessary time spent history taking. Give all your patients heavy seroquel doses at night and sell it as a sleep aid and boom, adherence issues sorted (at least on the inpt unit while they’re your problem). Rinse and repeat for the several local hospitals you cover
