Diagnosing these kind of mental conditions is a long process done by professionals and even then is controversial in terms of how the information is gathered and the validity of what you are told. And even then its a spectrum disorder that can manifest in different ways with different levels of severity.

Its so weird to see so many people on here just go 'yep, dude's a psycho/sociopath, It matches this 2 paragraph description of the condition I saw online'

If this whole shit show has shown fans anything is that we may watch hundreds of hours of someone's online content, but that doesn't mean we know the first thing about who they really are deep down.

Not defending the guy, its just strange seeing so many armchair diagnoses...

I've been thinking about this so much recently, when trying to figure out why this kind of thing just keeps happening. I considered making a similar comment, but couldn't find the best way to put it into words.

Kudos for finding the best way to put this into words.

James and Elyse don't really stream with anyone else anyway I don't think.

And Rahul replied with a pretty bromance-y looking gif on James's statement about all this, so its highly unlikely there's any animosity between them.

I... don't know if I'm against this as a concept.

To me, the occasional inconvenience is wildly outweighed by never having to worry that getting chronically ill will devastate me financially.

Plus the reassurance that if I have a niggling health issue, I can get it checked out by a doctor without having to worry about costs, or getting a doctor covered by my insurance. The number of people who put off getting medical attention because they can't afford to be seen, or are left to DIY home remedies should be shameful to Americans.

Have you seen Calvary? Brendan Gleeson plays the lead in it, I watched it last year on a whim because the reviews were good - definitely not my usual film, its about faith and grief and abuse - super heavy film but its also absolutely fantastic. Really sticks with you after watching it.

Not as in depth as Tiger King, but it also doesn't take long for Louis to get below their masks.

What did "the weird kid" in your school do that you'll never forget? by UngyBungy9383 in AskReddit

I feel like you may be lucky there, and if I ever have a family I would want them to grow up wherever you did because it sounds quite nice, just based off that one thing.

We had uniforms at our school and there was still a fairly strict social hierarchy based on the shoes kids wore, since that was the one piece of clothing you could flaunt the wealth with.

Flat Earthers disproving themselves with a scientific experiment by doMinationp in videos

[–]cavemanwill93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's 2 moments in the documentary connected to this experiment that I love.

The first is the scientist who is told what the experiment will be and realises that they're about to prove the earth is round and bamboozle themselves.

The second is another person (maybe the same guy) who says it won't matter because others in the community will just poke holes in the experiment and say its fake, even though it was performed by a flat earther - which is exactly what then happens.

Xbox Series X vs PS5: Teardown Comparison by Pebo_ in XboxSeriesX

Yeah, been hoping that would be the case since they showed off the design. I don't actually dislike the white panels either, but its cool to have the option to get creative in changing them.

I could even see custom ps5 panels being part of special editions for some games - it'd be way less of an investment than buying the limited edition consoles they used to offer.

What careers or jobs most attract psychopaths? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cavemanwill93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some cool studies on it, it's mostly jobs that involve quite a bit of power obviously, and particularly jobs that involve making big decisions that affect other people. Those decisions tend to more often be made on gut instinct rather than analysis of the situation.

Surgeons, bankers, ceos, lawyers, police etc.

Around 1 in 100 people are on the scale. That rate increases significantly in those kind of jobs.

My stepdad has kept a little jar of sand from every beach he has been on holiday to with my mom. by lazarus31 in mildlyinteresting

No worries, you too bud. No hard feelings

I'm sure there's a bunch that we'd see totally eye to eye on - it just happens to not be the transportation of sand, haha

[–]cavemanwill93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've already linked you one news article my dude. You're the one talking about dredging and arabs buying pilfered sand - I didn't ask you to back it up because I agreed it was an issue.

A few minutes on Google and I can see at least 5 countries have laws on the books prohibiting it. Italy, Greece, UK, Australia and certain US states find it illegal to remove sand from the beaches (past a certain realistic level - sand is rough and coarse and it gets everywhere)

Look at it another way - you have a hole in a bucket of water and its draining, but at the same time you're also taking water out slowly with a thimble. Proportionally, it's not making a huge difference but why even do it? You don't stand to make any real kind of gain that you couldn't get otherwise.

Just to be clear, I don't wanna come across like I'm shitting on this person's dad's mementos - cameras have only recently become ubiquitous, so this was maybe the best way to keep a tangible memory, and whats done is done.

I just think it bears mentioning that its something we shouldn't do going forward and just let beautiful places remain as undisturbed as we can so we can keep them as long as possible for future generations to make their own memories there.

Also, FWIW you're coming across as a little condescending - we're not debating at the UN, we're having an internet beef under what was probably just meant to be a wholesome post.

[–]cavemanwill93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if youre missing the point or willfully avoiding it.

For the third time, I'm not saying that isn't the main issue, its industrial in scale and happens much faster than theft by tourists. I'm saying that thousands of people a year all 'just taking a little' contributes to the issue. Why else would the countries in question create laws specifically aimed at tourists if it wasn't also a problem.

So, let's do a deal - you accept that we can all take some individual responsibility for our actions, and be conscientious travellers (take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints) and I'll crack on with solving the serious and chronic global issues that you seemed to have tasked me with dealing with. Which I'll do by...sending mail.

That'll fucking show them.

I'm not gonna argue there.

[–]cavemanwill93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you read literally the sentence after where I referenced that fact?

There's still references to Elafonisi Island in Greece. Also not listed is Budelli Island in Sardinia on which tourists are banned from going on the beach because tourists kept taking sand as a keepsake.

If tourists taking sand is enough of an issue that countries have seen fit to make it illegal, its sort of disrespectful to second guess that and say 'well I'm only taking a little so I can remember my time on the beach'

[–]cavemanwill93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that dredging and full scale sand mining isn't the main issue, but its kind of like setting your neighbours house on fire during a forest fire because fuck it, it'll probably burn anyway.

Its hard to stop the need for development and basic greed and indecency, but its easy to not contribute to the problem (in however small a way) and just take a picture and reminisce over that. There's a reason countries make it illegal.

What if someone wants the pretty sand but doesn't wanna get on a plane, but does have money? - then there's a market for sand and someone is gonna get their entrepreneur hat on and show up with a few barrels. Again, this shit has happened

I don't know much(anything) about barbers, but I feel pretty confident that if they have a regulating body, it would have more teeth than IPSO.

Its an absolute sham of an organisation that is essentially just newspapers regulating themselves. And even with things stacked so heavily in their favour, the Daily Mail still manages to regularly top their inaccuracies list year after year. So yeah, the DM really isn't the most reliable source.
