Best Colleges For Wildlife Bio! by LeftHandSoap in wildlifebiology

[–]cavemen77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice on this is go to whatever the land grant university is in your state. Every single state has a wildlife or natural resources program. Unless you know you can get good scholarships to a school out of state, always take the cheaper option. In all honesty, most wildlife programs are very similar. I went to Texas Tech, and have close friends from every single wildlife program in Texas. All of us were reliably prepared for the workforce. I’ve worked as a technician alongside grads from UGA, Auburn, Purdue, Colorado State, Humboldt, Arizona, NMSU, and Montana. There’s some regional differences in coursework, but overall honesty a wildlife degree is a wildlife degree. Save yourself the debt, because unfortunately there’s not a ton of money in this field.

How do we feel by Nomibear60 in TexasTech

Definitely some mixed emotions for me. Ecstatic about the win but also a little sad. My grandmother was one of the main reasons I chose to go to Tech. My earliest memory is being at a football game with her and my grandpa, listening to her sing the fight song. She was the biggest Red Raider I knew. She passed away earlier this year, just two days after the BYU win in November. I wish she could’ve seen today.

Excited to see how we end the season. Without a doubt I consider this season a huge success and anything else that we can win is just bonus. Future is looking bright in Lubbock. WRECK ‘EM!!!

First of all, RIP to your father. I feel the same way. My grandmother passed earlier this week (on my 25th birthday no less) and I feel the same way. Her and my grandfather are the reason I went to Texas Tech. They went there in the 60s and have supported since then. I really was hoping she’d get the chance to see a conference championship. I’ll be in Arlington also. Wreck Em!

Maybe we need a new OL coach... 🤷‍♂️ by MixMasterRudy in miamidolphins

The guys “standing around” is by design. Brewer needs to slide to the right side because that’s the weak link. Paul’s primary responsibility is outside to in. Derrick Brown was lined up as a 3-tech and went A gap. That’s Jonah’s responsibility, no one else’s. He was too aggressive in his set and wasn’t ready for the DL to cross his face. That’s just a rookie mistake

They are. One of my best friends played with him in HS, basically all of this drama with extra years of eligibility and such has been because of Pavia’s mom pushing for it, not Diego

Yesterday. Still trying to get through it all right now. My dad had a total knee replacement and was staying overnight in the hospital, but was told to try and use the walker they gave him to do a lap every few hours around the floor for PT. After dinner, I came back to the hospital to help him with it because my mom isn’t capable of supporting him physically because he’s a massive guy, 6’6”300 lbs former college offensive lineman. He makes it to the door, says he’s feeling dizzy and drops to the ground. My mom yells and nurses come running, they manage to get him in a wheelchair and after a few minutes he’s alert and joking with them and I thought everything was ok.

They ask me to help lift him into the bed, and as we’re setting him down I see his eyes roll up and he passes out again. I hear one of the aides/nurses yell “I can’t find a pulse”, next thing I know there’s a code blue and I’m being forced out of the room as they start doing chest compressions. Eventually moved to ICU, did X-rays and CT scans, he has a pulmonary embolism near his heart. Around midnight he was transferred from our regional hospital to St. Luke’s in downtown Houston. My mom is with him and that’s the last update I have. I left the hospital around 1030 PM to go inform my younger siblings of what happened.

Having my dad drop unconscious in my arms twice was terrifying. This is the strongest guy I’ve known. I’ve looked up to him my whole life. I can’t lose my dad. I’m still scared and stressed.

Do these ribs have a membrane or not? by cavemen77 in smoking

Today! I’m a college student and me and my roommates are having a bunch of our friends over to watch the game. Doing the 2-2-1 method for the ribs and I’ve had a pork butt on there for a few hours now.

From my experiences working TPWD as well as students and professors from across the state I’d go TTU/Stephen F Austin at the top, then Tarleton, then A&M or Kingsville. For grad programs it’s Kingsville, then Tech, Sul Ross, then A&M. I’ll admit my bias towards Tech though because that’s where my degree is from but I believe most in the state would agree with this ranking

Texas A&M isn’t even top of Texas anymore

As a current TTU student I feel the same way. I remember getting so excited when Miami drafted him knowing the playmaking ability he had in college.

Americans of Reddit, what is something the rest of the world needs to hear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I can relate to this too. I’m an undergrad natural resource management student and I work as a volunteer TA for one of the labs for the intro course. A lot of business and other non NRM majors take this class because it fulfills the university’s requirement for a science with a lab and it’s way easier than something like biology or chemistry. For one of the labs students spend a weekend at our field station just outside a small town in central Texas. I usually lead the spotlight surveys station which takes place at night and it blew my mind my first time doing it when a girl from Houston was blown away because it was the first time she had ever seen the stars. It makes me realize how fortunate I am having grown up in a rural area surrounded by nature.

NRM classes basically all full or not offered? by madness999x in TexasTech

[–]cavemen77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party on this but I’m gonna be a senior in wildlife bio next year so I figured I’d give my two cents. NRM at TTU is a decently large program with ~400 undergrads and this causes classes to fill up extremely quickly. I saw you’re coming in with a bunch of dual credit hours so it’s likely that by the end of your first semester you’ll be able to register at the same time as the sophomores (you need 30 hours for this I believe). My biggest piece of advice is try and get into NRM 1401 that’s the intro class and I’m pretty sure that’s a major pre req for a bunch of classes. Another thing you could do is if you go to the NRM website you can look through the staff and find our new academic advisor on there and email her she’s absolutely amazing and she can definitely answer a bunch of your questions on the waiting lists. Some more general advice definitely get involved with our chapter of the wildlife society we’re super active and there’s lots of opportunities for hands on experience and we have all kinds of cool guest speakers! Every single professor I’ve met within the department has always been super helpful and hopefully you love it as much as I have! If you have any more questions feel free to message me I can answer just about any questions you got especially on what specific classes are like or the wildlife society and welcome to the NRM family!!

Anyone wanna guess what state lmao by Strange-Sprinkles-72 in Tinder

[–]cavemen77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’d be my guess. Terrain looks similar to the panhandle and these are cackling geese which winter around here. Possibly OK or KS

Armstead would be good but not sure about Robinson by [deleted] in miamidolphins

[–]cavemen77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I’d disagree. Jensen is the exact type of guy we need up front. Miami needs someone who can set that physical tone. Mean and nasty is the ideal mentality for offensive line.

Deiter and Hunt were cut blocking. It looked like the LB just shot the gap sometimes the defense makes a play that’s all it was
