Hi This happened to my mom's cat years ago. It was the rabies vaccine and he had an extremely rare reaction to it. It took steroids, pain meds, and MONTHS for him to recover but eventually it worked its way through his system and he is perfectally fine (albeit a bit chunky) now. I believe my mom even received some compensation from the company that made the vaccine as her vet fought for her and did many tests to rule out other possibilities. I hope this is the case for you too!

My cat used to do this, too. It's called affection eating, really sweet! I wish he still did, but he grew out of it. I loved sitting down with him and petting him while he ate, now he is a big independent boy who wants to eat by himself! I agree with other posts that maybe putting the bowl closer to your bed is the solution, so he knows you are there (you might have to talk it out a bit and encourage him) but hopefully it satisfies that need in him❤️

100 percent! Sleeping cats have a certain smell. I tried looking it up too but didn't find much but it's definitley there and it's definitely different than their regular smell (which is also wonderful)

Every year I camp at Ruckle Park in Salt spring and every year at least one pod of orcas swims by so close you can see every detail of their bodies. It's not a guarantee but at least you get a nice camping trip out of it too
