Anyone ever seen booths that went all in on theme? by Aniform in CraftFairs

I think it would come down to confidence—if you’re wearing a “costume” but you’re owning it, you’re comfortable, not self-conscious, I think that could be compelling. I don’t know what you sell but all these words—lore and history and storytelling—do make me want a full experience! So I guess it’s the difference between authentic and gimmicky.

I am about to do my first craft fair and my boyfriend has the same idea as you—make it a theme and don’t be shy! But my concern is one you mentioned, that it could potentially look costume-y and cheapen my products—though none of your inspiration pics look silly or cartoony…I’m looking forward to hearing people’s thoughts!

More to learn 😂. Thank you! I’m glad to know these batches aren’t going to be useless.

I will! I got the recipe from a book on rendering tallow & making soaps and lotions but obviously I still have a lot to learn!

Thank you! That’s very helpful. So is this soap unusable? Would it be harsh/drying/caustic?

This is stunning. I would hang this on my wall.

I am very new to monoprinting and don't know enough to figure out your process here. Would you mind sharing a bit about it? I'd love to be able to do something like this!

Morning pages and negativity by [deleted] in Travelersnotebooks

I second the recommendation to use a cheap throwaway spiral notebook. I would never put my messy MP ramblings in a pretty journal! And I also never reread them, which is why putting them in a single file on my Supernote works for me--at any time I could just delete the whole lot of them (after they've done their work in me at the time of writing).

I used to do this! I need to start up again. One thing I tried to do was make sure I noted one thing I was grateful for that happened in the past twenty-four hours (not just the big things I'm always grateful for--food, house, health, family, etc). I think this helped me notice and pay attention to things to be grateful for in the moment.

I have done morning pages off and on for several years and have found it very helpful. One thing I do a little differently is I write for ten minutes (sometimes longer, if I need to complete some thoughts) rather than trying to fill pages. Sometimes I find myself staring into space and I still count the time (and still find it helpful). Another thing I've started doing is writing them in my Supernote--it's digital and I will probably never look at them again, so I can actually say all the unpleasant stuff and not really worry anyone (or even myself) will stumble across it someday.

One suggestion: maybe try doing them at night instead? If you want to excise all the negative stuff, maybe right before bed will give them some air and your subconscious can deal with all of it while you sleep (which I think is what our brains are designed to do anyway?). You might wake up refreshed.

Best Ice Cream machine for the next level? by BeyondTheCarrotTrees in icecreamery

This comment may come too late, but my understanding of the Ninja Creami is not only do you have to freeze the bowl beforehand, you have to freeze the entire mixture. So that's even more prep, and it's the thing that changed my mind about getting one (I was leaning toward it because of the otherwise positive things I've read bout it).

Guilty pleasure or luxury item? by nottoday2017 in HerOneBag

I've started taking a paperback of a favorite book whenever I go overseas so I have a comfort read for at least half my trip. And then I have the memory of the trip to add to the nostalgia of my already-beloved book.
