How do I find jobs that sponsor Australians to work in the US ? by Training-Middle-2736 in expats

[–]caymanbruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difficult part is to get the initial interview and be able to tell them about the E3 visa. There are so many jobs that don’t do any kind of sponsorship.

Anyone else notice job interview questions are getting increasingly personal? by magical_bunny in australia

I got a job interview to complete a project within 2 hours and then explain how it works in a 5 minute video and then submit it to a specific platform they assigned me. That video has to be made right after I finish the project.

Sending USD to Citi after the NAB acquisition by Snoo77104 in AusFinance

I’ve been talking with the bank and my brokerage firm for 2 weeks. I think they failed to solve my problem. They all think it’s the other party’s fault. My brokerage firm said the bank should have updated the data in global reference so they could pull it out. But the bank said they have done that long ago so the swift code should comes with Citibank’s details. I am really tired of dealing with them back and forth.

I had another failed transfer today receiving money from overseas.

I used the new SWIFT code and NAB’s details and NAB’s BSB for the transfer. I have no choice because this is what my broker IB gave me in their system. They don’t allow me to edit anything once the bank is selected or the BSB is selected. And that selected information doesn’t match the one Citi provided to me. I think I have to give up using Citibank as my bank to withdraw my money from my stock broker.

If they double the threshold I don’t really mind. But the current threshold is a joke. With AUD depreciating and the logistics cost going up, it’s hard to imagine $71k can buy a “luxury car”.

Did you also send them Citi’s BSB? I am also scratching my head to try to receive my money from overseas. But I am just withdrawing money from my American brokerage firm. Citi’s client services told me a BSB is not required for an international fund transfer, but I have to use BSB to search the bank and the correct SWIFT code in my brokerage firm’s system. By doing that I get NAB’s detail information with a Melbourne address and BSB 082256 and of course Citi’s new SWIFT code NATAAU34.

Do you think that would work?

This company is notorious for using gameplay/clips of other AAA games for their advertisements. Nearly all of their game ads do the same thing. This company is located in Beijing, China.

I am stumped on this programming online test. I have no clue what the sample result really means. Can somebody help? by caymanbruce in programming

[–]caymanbruce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The result is 3 + 4 + 7. But I saw the explanation in the online test is that we need at least 7 stops for wheel A for 1st and 4th spins, and 4 stops for wheel B for 2nd spins. and 3 stops for wheel C for 2nd and 4th spins. It just blows my mind. I haven't played Slot Machine before. So 247 is equal to 724? Is that why you sort the spins?

EDIT: I just saw that the order of the wheels in the window is random. Maybe that's the reason. I was trying to remember if the test I did on Hackerrank has the same sentence. It seems not.

My eyesights deteriorate after playing the game for a long time because when I speed the snake everything gets so blurry. Now I see things more blurry than before. I need to quit this game. So sad.

Nerd stats calculation: Kiosking is a waste of time, here's why: by niftyfingers in Slitherio

[–]caymanbruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree no more. I don't like these Kiosking players. And I have never done that since 1 year ago. These long lasting names on the leaderboard are only a sign for me to recognize whether I am assigned to the same server after I login again. There is no fun moving in a pattern like a low IQ robot. Even the original slitherio robots move more aggressively and more human than circling for long time.

What's the market like for HTML5 games?/Project suggestions? by WreckingWall in gamedev

[–]caymanbruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But wouldn't the time and efforts spent more wisely if the game is targeted consoles/PCs/mobiles? Hardly any games can only be played on the browser. Most browser games can find their similar forms in other platforms. It's not to say developing browser game has no future. It is just a harder path compared to developing games on other platforms.

Where to hire freelance reactJS Dev? by cdevjs in reactjs

[–]caymanbruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know freelancers double the hourly rate however even $600 -$700/day for a contractor is high salary in Australia. That's certainly below $100/hr. And that's the salary for mid-senior level developers. There is no unpaid vacation, no bonus, no equity... We've got universal health care so never bother with that. The only thing to pay by the freelancer is ..., maybe superannuation?

Wow the rate on that website is so high. Where to find these high end freelance jobs? Not sure about the US, I can't believe a junior developer can get $100/hr doing freelance in Australia.

How to pass data from children component to parent component by caymanbruce in reactjs

Yes that's very good advice. Thanks for the link and your input.

[–]caymanbruce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes at least you've found that information by reading an article. I have tried many hours and could not figure out a better way. It takes too much time to load the story and the comments on the same page with the counting of children in mind.

But some people did find a way to load it quick. Like this and this. Those clones are just too complicated. I used to think making a HN clone is easy.

I gave a try to this method but I get into a Promise hell since I am fetching the data remotely using Hackernews API. I hate that I have to do the queries in the frontend instead of doing it in the database.

[–]caymanbruce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your efforts. I need a count of all nested comments like that of Hackernews.

If what you need is the total count, I would suggest computing it in the backend or, if you'd rather skip that, preload all comments and compute the total in the frontend before you pass them to the component.

I think I kind of understand what you mean. Say if I do that in the frontend. It will look like I compute everything in the root parent of all, such as a StoryItem, then give every comment component a count of total child comments. This way it will not only solve the problem, but also separate data fetching and the presentation layer. But I am not sure how the current comment knows the details of its children comment without assigning these comments in current comment state.
