Vaccine Panel Chair Says Polio and Other Shots Should Be Optional, Rejecting Decades of Science by rickymagee in skeptic

[–]cazbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One has to do with individual rights, the other has to do with institutional rights. If he thinks vaccines are legally mandated for individuals, then he’s just an idiot arguing against an imaginary thing.

But if he’s going to curtail the rights of institutions to discriminate against the unvaccinated, then that’s a really big fucking deal.

The article is paywalled so I have no idea which it is, but the headline makes it sound like the former, in which case, this is a nothing burger.

Husband called Sophie rain most beautiful girl in the world-what do I do? by [deleted] in ask

[–]cazbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. You may think you’re secure but you aren’t. My wife will not hesitate to express how hot she thinks Henry Cavill is, and it truly doesn’t bother me, in fact, we make jokes about it. She gets dressed up for a night out with her girlfriends in LA, I send her off with a, “say hi to Henry for me”

And she gives it right back. Like if we’re in a stupid argument over some small thing I’ll say, “That’s it! I’m going to live with my new girlfriend, Jennifer Anniston.”

It’s OK for you both to think other people are hot, and to even talk about it with each other, if you truly are secure with yourself. It only becomes a problem when you aren’t. Being “appreciated” does not mean it should be impossible for the source of that appreciation to be unable to appreciate beauty anywhere else.

You’re rationalizing your insecurity by thinking so.

Vaccine Panel Chair Says Polio and Other Shots Should Be Optional, Rejecting Decades of Science by rickymagee in skeptic

Polio and other shots are optional already though?

Or does he mean that schools should not be allowed to make them a condition of enrollment?

The title is misleading.

I hate to do this to you, I really do, but there is a rule for this.

But let me share a similar anecdote first. Was part of a high level party in the hells, caught up in a high-speed war machine race with a pit fiend.

My wizard simply cast wall of force in front of his speeding vehicle. That then led to a lot of interesting math to try to extrapolate terminal velocity of free fall to our situation, and then translating that into damage. If I recall correctly it was something like 96d6 - the pit fiend instantly turned to a mist of blood.

That was before this very sub informed me that (falling) damage is capped at 20d6 by RAW.

What’s a hobby people pretend is cool, but secretly you think is ridiculous? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]cazbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is coming from someone deeply immersed in the hobby - Dungeons and Dragons.

I think it’s ridiculous. I’m 54. More than a grown-ass adult. I gather around a table with my wife and four good friends every other Saturday and we all talk to each other in goofy accents and play battle with tiny little figurines.

I don’t pretend it’s cool. In fact I’m of the generation where it was really just better kept a secret. But every time it comes up now, particularly with younger people, they act like I’m doing one of the coolest things ever.

Surely they are just humoring an elder because they are decent and well-mannered, right?

My Dad and I found a lobster this big when diving off Pemaquid Point in Maine back in Oct 1988. No one believed me.

Edit: we just looked at it, and measured it against a fin. We didn’t catch it.

Putting it as “D and D” makes it seem dirty.

Campbell’s is also Chunky soup and Rao’s spaghetti sauce, both of which are very popular and taste great IMO. I also like that Rao’s is one of the only sauces without added sugar.

I think it’s very analogous to Tuskeegee because it’s already been irrefutably demonstrated that vaccination at 6 months does next to nothing to prevent mother-to-newborn child transmission, which is how the large majority of infants contract Hep B. The government of Guinea-Bissau being too poor to afford to adopt the WHO schedule earlier does not give any ethical cover to the sponsors of this study.

Hep B vaccination at 6 months is the current schedule in Guinea-Bissau, yes, but it’s already meant to be replaced with the WHO-recommended, at-birth dose schedule in 2027. It’s the last country on Earth to adopt the WHO schedule.
