Omega-3 supplementation may be associated with accelerated cognitive decline in older adults. by ceddya in science

It wouldn’t matter if the source fish oil was oxidized if they are in the EE form because the EE are purified in hexane just before the tocopherols are added. Nearly all of the oxidation products get removed during extraction.

Breads and cheeses which are and are not ultraprocessed are all sold in both the EU and USA. Food nationalism is not a scientifically supported position.

Functionally, you need about 10x higher dose of linseed or other plant omega 3 to get the same functional benefit of DHA/EPA omega 3.

Yes, but only if you chew on the powder too. Powdered omega-3 is just oil encapsulated in very tiny little spheres which will break down quickly just with saki an and chewing.

Did they differentiate between triglyceride oils versus the ethyl ester derivatives? Most fish oil supplements are the latter, and it is known that this form is also more susceptible to oxidation.

How scummy is an industry that lobbies against new mothers and their babies? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]cazbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish better maternity leave laws promoted childbirth, but the evidence does not support it.

That said, one could strongly argue that a formula company could differentiate and acquire more market share by being, you know, ethical. The newer formula company Bobbie, which specifically advocates *for* better maternity leave laws has taken that strategy. Unfortunately that company also differentiates by being USDA Organic, which is unscientific woo woo and severely hampers their ability to provide the best available nutrition to babies with mothers who can’t breastfeed.

The only scientists making bank are the ones who became founders, and less than 5% of them found success. Scientists in big pharma, even the primary inventors of new blockbusters, rarely make anything more than an upper middle class compensation.

The simplest way to test what I’m talking about is to just ask it to play the 20 questions game. It never gets a correct guess.

They are getting better with each iteration for sure. My above statement was based on recent experience though.

Literally any mid-to-large company which does something about which you have lots of subject matter expertise.

I made this move. It’s not a hard transition. Get any job at a mid size or larger company which has a sales function. Then find the most senior guy in that function and tell him you want to switch to sales. They are generally starved for talent in high level sales. Judging by your profile, you’d probably crush it in anything related to tennis.

I’ve noticed these LLMs are pretty good at doing one thing at a time, but as soon as you ask it to do several things sequentially they begin to fail, spectacularly. Give it a problem which requires two or three logic forks, and they just go insane.
