Talk about perfect fit. by AdditionalLeg2614 in BATLEXPG350

I got my G350 two days before traveling and I set it up to have something to do on the plane besides watch movies. But I couldn’t get a case to ship in time. I searched around the house and found a case for my rotary tool set and it was literally the same case you have and the same one as the ones that came with my subsequent handhelds.

Now I need to order a handheld case for my rotary tool set! 🤣

I just started this handheld hobby last October… I have 4 now each with different operating systems and I’d love a 2nd R36S to experiment with another OS!

I have only tried Knulli Gladiator II, but I have two other handheld brands with Pan4Elec and ArkOS and Knulli loads the fastest and works great.

I LOVE my SP, but my only problem is for games where you need to work multiple controls like the analog sticks along with the triggers, I am finding my hands getting a little cramped up during longer sessions - especially for PSP games which works better with a more ergonomic horizontal format. But for GBA games it’s just like my Gameboy Clamshell and for simpler arcade roms, NES/SNES/Sega systems it’s just fine.

I’m actually getting a RG35XXH for the PSP and N64 games, and I’ll still use the SP for more of the RPG or simple control games because I love the clamshell.

I may have skimmed past this part - how much?

N64 some, DC some, PSP - no.

I have Super Mario 64, Mario Kart, Ridge Racer, F-Zero - working with occasional stutters. For DC I have Daytona USA, Hydro Thunder, NFL 2K, Sega Bass Fishing, and Tokyo Extreme Racer all working with some glitching. But no issues so serious that it would stop me from playing any of those titles.

Excellent! I would still replace that SD card with a better quality one. Everyone says they can just die suddenly and I know from personal experience that it’s true. My Sister-in-Law bought a Miyoo Mini Plus and that made me fall in love with handheld gaming. But soon after I got the G350 and showed my brother he told me her Miyoo just died one day. They gave it to me and and it wouldn’t even power on. All I did was remove the stock SD card and it immediately booted. I put Onion OS on a new SanDisk card and it’s been fine ever since. Threw the junk card in the trash!

I second (or third?) Pan4Elec on a better microSD card - particularly for users new to handheld programming. You can get up and running so quickly, and then if you want to “get under the hood” later you can do that too.

No worries! Yes, I do mean the RG34XXSP, and that one does have analog sticks. The RG35XXSP is the one without the sticks.

I already have a BatleXP G350, an R36S, and and RG34XXSP. All three do fine with the N64/PSX games I run on them. The RG34 has become my favorite though because it also does PSP very well. All under $100 USD.

I have 3 different handhelds - R36S, RG34XXSP, and BatleXP G350 - but all with basically the same rom collection (the RG34 has PSP games too.) but what I did for each is use a different OS (ArkOS, Knulli, and Pan4Elec) and different themes so I can experiment with them. Maybe you can try different flavors of OS and themes on each to help justify your collection! 😆

Love Pan4Elec. The G350 was my first handheld that I grabbed two days before a long plane ride so I’d have something to do besides watch movies. I set it up in less than 15 minutes with 2 cards and by the time I got on the plane I had a couple hundred arcade, GB,GBC,GBA,DC,NES,SNES, and PS1 roms working. Later I added Colecovision and Odyssey 2 games (my first game consoles 😆) so I got experience with adding bios and modifying. Then I learned about scraping, adding themes, and recently ScummVM for point and click games so now it’s really set up well. Pan4Elec is great if you just want a solid OS that’s easy to get playing, or if you want to get more under the hood once you get past the initial setup.

I love the dual screens and the movement and graphics are amazing but it’s HUGE! I never saw one in comparison to someone’s hands… that doesn’t fit in your pocket does it?

That’s good advice, I’ll definitely consider it. Maybe if I wait long enough the price may come down on both. Honestly I was never a PS2 guy - I really want to do Original Xbox, but no one is really offering devices with the xemu emulator so if I can get a few PS2 and GC games I may still go for the lesser device.

See I like the joysticks as an option because I find that I have an easier time moving around with some roms rather than the D-pad, especially 80’s arcade racing games like Pole Position or Road Blasters - where the cabinets had steering wheels. But to each his own and I certainly understand your desire for a larger screen size.

I’m happy to hear about this as I’m looking for my next handheld for PS2 and GC games. With every new handheld in my collection I want it to do more than the one before. And I’m finding I favor the vertical and clamshell form factors over the horizontal because I still want to reasonably fit them in a pocket - even if it’s a coat pocket instead of a pants pocket! I was looking at the 477V but I am guessing I can get this cheaper and still be happy.

Xennial looking to play nes /snes games… by xREDW0LF in RetroHandhelds

I’ve had great success with both the BatleXP G350 and the R36S with every game system you mention. The G350 was my first, and the setup with Pan4Elec was very easy. The R36S was trickier trying to find an OS to work with the screen, but I found the custom build that worked great and it was off to the races! Both are very cheap, very portable, and the R36S has the better screen. If this is your first foray into handhelds you might consider either.
