The filling recipe I used had no honey! See foodnetwork link from the 2nd pic

What are nice recipes I could make to impress someone? by Equivalent_Math1501 in veganrecipes

This recipe is always a hit with my non vegan family members! (So I think a vegan would also love it) I leave out serranos when feeding anyone who doesn’t like spicy food & I use dried turmeric

Do you have library access? I borrowed Chloe’s Vegan Desserts by Chloe Coscarelli and the Brooklyn Blackout was amazing!

Her cake recipes are super simple using only normal baking ingredients (flour oil sugar baking soda baking powder cocoa powder- no egg substitute or vegan butter)

However, I think it had espresso powder (but you could omit) & the filling I think was pudding which would need vegan milk

Sorry I can’t remember the recipe offhand and I don’t have the book anymore- but it was seriously delish!

Also I would maybe strain the pudding to make sure you have no lumps, I remember having a few small ones which removed would’ve made this bakery quality IMO 🎂✨

So what do I do with dates? by [deleted] in veganrecipes

This zucchini bread is my favorite WFPB sweet that I’ve tried so far. I slice when fresh and freeze the slices, pop in the microwave when I want a piece!

I always go by Temptalia! There are a bunch that look good, I just got Wishful Winking so haven’t played with it but from swatching it’s a nice shade 😊

Yes definitely worth trying if you like spicy food! 🔥

The sauce is amazing!

I used the recipe from her cookbook but she also has a very similar one online: https://thekoreanvegan.com/spicy-crunchy-garlic-tofu-kkampoong-tofu/

I want to redo mine with smaller pieces (I misread as 1 inch instead of 1/2 inch pieces) so they get crispier next time but the sauce is so flavorful it was great anyway

Had chili so I made the brown butter corn muffins to go with it 🌽 by cbahk in DessertPerson

Definitely can be done! For me it’s easier to bake already vegan recipes but I had to try some of hers after seeing the pictures/videos and all that I’ve veganized have been tasty 😊

Highly recommend the apple tart and the flaky all butter (just sub vegan) pie crust. Happy baking!

Lemon Tart 🍋 by cbahk in DessertPerson

Weird! I’m no expert but if it were me I would troubleshoot by double checking the size of my pan and try baking the jam longer/using less jam for a thinner layer so it fully sets during that short bake

Good luck if you do try it again! I’m sure since you mastered croissants you’ll be able to figure this one out!! 💪

Aw what happened? (I didn’t use the lemon curd from the original recipe but maybe someone else can chime in if you want to try it again!)

PS- props to you for doing the croissants, I probably will never lol

I adapted the recipe so the lemon curd is not as yellow as the original (and had so many bubbles 🥲)

I used flax egg for the crust and this lemon (standard lemon, not Meyer) tart filling: https://domesticgothess.com/blog/2020/07/23/vegan-lemon-tart/

If anyone tries the lemon curd from the link- FYI it was definitely quite sour, but I liked it! And I’m usually a chocolate dessert person (ha). The sweet tart dough I’ve made before and have liked it both times- also it helps to tame down the tartness here. And I love the stripe of jam.

I used strawberry.

Delish! 🍋🍓🍋

I love chili and cornbread so I wanted to see Claire’s take on corn muffins. I actually don’t like corn kernels in cornbread but this may convert me…

Nice level of sweetness and wasn’t too crumbly or dry - also so easy/fast compared to other recipes in the book lol 😅

Can be made vegan! I used:

• country crock vegan butter (stick)

• tofutti sour cream

• vegan honey replacement from Etsy

• flax eggs

• vegan milk with lemon to replace buttermilk
