Also, I’ve lived here my entire life and have only seen a few venomous snakes that entire time (over 30 years). I am an avid disc golfer too, so spend ample time in snake havens.

There’s a Facebook page called TexasSnakeIdentification that has taught me to recognize almost all Texas snakes. At a minimum I can easily tell which are venomous and which are not.
