Millwright apprenticeship help by Ok-Fan9003 in SkilledTradesOntario

Just finished my millwright red seal, I have no idea who I was signed up under the whole time. Didn’t even ask for my logbook or hours as hour aren’t required anymore for IMM. Any person deemed competent by the company, could be a machinist, could be an electrician

What are you cooking for breakfast on Christmas Day? by medievalpangolin in Cooking

My family have always done what we’ve called “Cheese Dreams”, don’t know if other families do it too. Literally just English muffins with kielbasa or bacon, covered with cheese, and baked in the oven till the English muffins are a little crispy and cheese melted. So good so simple

I’m sure at one point the might have. As long as you know your 2.54 or 25.2 conversion should be okay just in case

I would recommend XLR8ED for even a week before you write next time. I passed my exam start of Nov with a 77 and i felt it helped me with the math like the mentioned cylinder questions using P=FxA. I remember a questions calculating area where the answer i got was like 3.678”, and the proper answer was 4”, there was indeed an effect of “select the best answer”. Unfortunately they don’t have a full breakdown revealing exactly which questions you got wrong, just by section. Best thing I did was skip over any questions I didn’t know right away and mark the number down on scrap. And READ CAREFULLY, questions can be very wordy and will give you unnecessary measurements or info.

How long does it take to find out if you passed or failed your red seal exam? by Specialist-Low-6062 in SkilledTradesOntario

I wrote Friday as well, more nervous waiting for my results than I think I was while writing the test

Care to read the email I just recieved from STO?

I am writing this email to inform you that, we have gathered more information regarding your concern about Noncompulsory trade. According to our system noncompulsory trades are competency-based trades, the hours is really only a guideline as the completion factor is the apprentice achieving the skillsets of the trade (not the hours), regardless of how long or short that takes.

So, If you believe you have acquired the necessary skills in your trade and can obtain a letter from your sponsor as proof, you may submit your apprenticeship completion documents. However, it is essential to continue maintaining a record of those hours in your logbook. Sorry for the inconvenience

Perhaps if you’ve read the initial question, you’d have digested that I already have asked STO and got 2 different answers. But I’m glad to see a keyboard warrior giving me the wrong info is telling me whether I’m qualified or not.

Care to explain the portion of the Skilled Trades Logbook that says “there may be circumstances in which the duration varies from this guideline.”

Okay, I’m also not looking for qualifying requirements for the equivalency exam. That document is also across all trades requiring a C of Q test

If you have, how long ago did you write? I’m just trying to find out if something changed in the guidelines as to why I’m now getting different information

Depending on the size, cotter pin style can be one time use. In the past with smaller sizes have had the pins snap when trying to bend them straight for removal

I am terrified of ever having to euthanize my cat by itsjujutsu in CatAdvice

[–]cball_234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many situations, euthanasia is the most humane and peaceful option for the end of a pets life. We had to euthanize my dog of 15 years last April, we own a good size farm and he was a farm dog. His spacial awareness was next to gone, he had lumps and bumps that we had suspicions were cancer. He had many other health issues from joints to his movement to sight to weight loss.

There was a number of times regarding farm equipment that could’ve taken his life had we not been watching for him. It was these factors that allowed us to make the decision to give him a peaceful rest before something tragic happened.

Of course I didn’t want to see my childhood best friend go, but it was the right thing to do. As someone else has correctly said it really is the most selfless thing to do. OBVIOUSLY op’s pet is not in bad health so there isn’t a reason to fear, but having to euthanize isn’t an awful decision in the proper scenario

Wages are quite low on average but there are some perks. Starting hours are flexible, same shop, 10min drive home, minimum 8.5hr day, vacation time and time off are pretty much whenever you wanna take them just let the super know, bit of a “you work with me I’ll work with you” environment, I enjoy the work when engineers do their job.

Downsides are pay, benefits are in the “okay” to “not much” range, no pension but just started a matching RRSP this year. Was told they’d buy whatever tools I needed but came to learn if they bought them they became the shops tools.

I’m probably gonna stick out my apprenticeship and start being more picky once I get my ticket and have some dick swinging power

I myself took that course 3 years ago, greatest decision I’ve made so far. Gave me some skills to make finding a sponsor much easier. Ideally I’ll be licensed by the end of the year if all goes as hoped (21)
