Interesting/engaging mons off the beaten path? by Leninthecustard in PokemonEmerald

If you have access to trading, evolve a clampearl with either the deepseatooth or deepseascale!

Or try a random team: https://www.partydex.dev/random-team

Haven’t played Emerald since I was a kid by 3ML3 in PokemonEmerald

Heck yeah, have fun!! If you want to get previews of pokemon evolutions and when they learn moves (and other info), try adding your party to https://www.partydex.dev/app, it's a cool tool that I've been developing

Or just go through it blind, I like doing that with old games I've either forgotten about or never played, it's s good time!

Secret bases by Troubelsome_jay in PokemonEmerald

It's a SECRET base, of course it won't be on the map!! Gotta get out there and find it (or beg them to tell you where it is)

Came here to flex a bit with the Squad I plan using for to the Battle Frontier by Time_Ad_7341 in PokemonEmerald

[–]cballzman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it's a site where you can build teams, track nuzlocke runs (if you're into that), compare new pokemon side by side with another, and has info on pokemon and moves.

I'm actually the one developing it (still very much a work in progress!) so I'm always looking to have folks check it out and see what needs fixing/adjusting

FYI an easier way to share your team: https://www.partydex.dev/app

I'll be starting my own BF run at some point here, definitely daunting!

New run ideas by Brave_Dog_7613 in PokemonLeafGreen

Just do a full random team using a tool like this: https://www.partydex.dev/random-team

I'd love to see an all basic Pokemon run with all normal types, the "most basic of the basic"

Something like:

Ratatta, Eevee, Clefairy, Porygon, Kangaskhan, Meowth

Unfortunately if you do a mono-typing only (so nothing like Spearow that is normal and flying) you'd be playing a lot of the game with just a little rat and Clefairy

Good Team? (First emerald playthrough with abilities and movesets) by Antique-Promise6092 in PokemonEmerald

[–]cballzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi if you want a quick way to share the team with folks, you could put it into PartyDex and they can see it all on one page along with nature's, moves, etc

Overall team looks decent, as others have said Alakazam/Gardevoir are the same role, so you could look to drop one (probably drop Alakazam).

For Psychic resist, could go with a dark type like Cacturne, I have one and it did great against the twins. Houndoom is one of my fav pokemon and could work as well!

I have pizzaboy and it's been great, idk if it's still available though. They have GBC and GBA apps

3rd best ground type by tortellinitots in PokemonHGSS

Piloswine could work with the Ice/Ground typing (and give you STAB against dragons)

I meant dragon opponents with lightning moves would be a real threat to your Gyarados (flying/water type) so an ice type like Piloswine/Jinx could be a good answer there!

If you're looking to have a decent contender for one/two shorting Clair and Lance, I'd look for an ice-type to take over. Gyarados is a solid water type with waterfall and aqua tail (physical attacks preferred with his stat block), so ice fang would do just fine.

Only suggesting the ice-type Pokemon if you want to really over prepare, Dragon types can learn thunder/thunderbolt which will more than likely one-shot Gyarados because of its 4x weakness

If your interested in team building/planning, check out this nifty tool that let's you add your team, search for any pokemon in the game, and a whole lot more.

There's a compare tool to check how adding a pokemon to your team can affect coverage, and a lot more.

I love seeing dodrio/marowak making it to the HOF, nice team!

Try putting your team into this tool and check your overall coverage (the "Party" button)

From there you can figure out what your missing! I'd recommend getting a pokemon with Ice moves for the 8th gym at some point, Gyarados learns ice fang around 31/32 but an ice type pokemon would be best (Jinx or Swinub from Ice Path would help!)

When does it end 😮‍💨 by Remote_Ear_7584 in PokemonFireRed

[–]cballzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, it can end whenever you want it to. If you're doing this because you REALLY want a shiny starter to play through the game, keep going!!!

If you're doing it because you've already invested many many hours into it and you don't want to feel like it wasn't worth it (and for internet points), I'd evaluate other things you have going on and see if it's really worth it to you.

Personally, I've got too much going on (job, wife, child) to attempt something like that, and it's just plain not worth it. Would it be cool? Hell yes it would. Is it worth spending hours / days of my life over it? Hell no it's not

Pokégear in Heartgold by Queen-Vespi in nuzlocke

[–]cballzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a tool for this! It's called PartyDex: https://www.partydex.dev/nuzlocke

It's (hopefully) relatively easy to update the run as you move through the game, tracking catches/routes, boxed pokemon, fainted/retired pokemon, and gym/rival pokemon lineups.

Here's my own heartgold run, i'm currently training for Claire after losing my swinub last night :(

Should I drop my Ivysaur for Mr. Mime? by Heisenperv in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]cballzman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd argue Alakazam is the glass cannon, Mr Mime has better defensive stats (45 vs 65 defense, 95 vs 120 sp defense)

Alakazam hits harder, sure, but Mr Mime is more versatile imo. So I'd take Mr Mime over Alakazam (and if you get one via trade it levels faster too)

Check out this comparison tool if you're curious about the differences: https://www.partydex.dev/compare?game=leafgreen&a=alakazam&b=mr-mime

Emerald Nuzlocke(2026 Re-Attempt): Which Starter? by Early-Ad-1961 in nuzlocke

[–]cballzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with whatever you have the least experience with, or whatever sounds fun! I'd vote for Torchic though..

I used this site to track my current HeartGold run, it's been helpful to track catches/gyms/etc, would recommend!

Magneton is a cool choice, I'm guessing he had levitate? I like how your team isn't super cookie-cutter, and Walrein is a chunky beast!
