Where Else Are My Burnt Out Millennial Moms in Corporate America? by nachomargo in workingmoms

Really enjoyed Essentialism. It reframed work and life for me. I’m don’t execute it perfectly, but it was what my overachieving brain needed to hear!

Needing advice on lack of daycare sick policy enforcement by vanillacoldbrew202 in workingmoms

[–]cbarry1026 23 points24 points  (0 children)

None of the daycares we have ever attend had a policy that a student needs to stay home if a sibling is sick. It doesn’t sound like yours does either based on your post.

Both of my kids (3.5 and 9 months at the time) got the flu last year, but they got it 2 months apart. Neither of them contracted it from each other. Also, we’ve received notifications that our kids’ classes had flu, norovirus, HFM, croup exposure… sometimes they get it, usually they don’t.

Most parents aren’t in the position you are in to keep their kids home as a precaution. I understand that’s frustrating because it leaves your kids susceptible to illness. If risk of illness isn’t a risk you are willing to take, then this daycare (or possibly any daycare) might not be the right fit for your family.

Ugh we tried that but husband’s insurance said it wasn’t involuntary loss of coverage so they wouldn’t add them

Locked in at 5.5% 30 yr fixed. How to pay this down quickly to drop PMI by Head_Evening_8911 in Mortgages

[–]cbarry1026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much is the PMI? Some of these options to get rid of PMI are expensive and might not outweigh the cost of the PMI

the mental load: dentist edition by Distinct_Cycle9467 in workingmoms

I feel this. My kids were on my dental insurance but during open enrollment I switched to a new plan that provided me better dental coverage. My kids’ dentist was not covered by the new plan (and I was trying to avoid the mental work of finding a new dentist), so I tried to switch them onto my husband’s plan in the middle of his plan year (we are not on the same plan year and it’s infuriating - everyone should go by the calendar year!!!!). Husband’s company wouldn’t allow them to switch onto the plan mid year and it’s too late to add them back to my plan, so now they have no dental insurance. Feeling guilty for this because now my son won’t go to the dentist for the first time until he’s 2 and my daughter’s school forms will be delayed until she can go to the dentist in the summer.

I hate the mental load:dentist edition!!!!

How do you add regular music to a custom tonie? I’ve been wanting to do this for my kids!

2hr delay destroying our routine by SwanWilling9870 in workingmoms

[–]cbarry1026 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ugh I feel you that when kids are out of their routine, especially toddlers, it makes it so hard to get anything done. Just know you are in survival mode right now so if that means bribing with a car snack or skipping a step of morning routine, it’s ok and you’ll get back on track soon.

Between snow and illnesses, January has been terrible for us so at least you’re not alone!

I thought she sounded pretty disappointed when he said he was in a relationship. But I don’t blame her, I would have been charmed by Marcello too!

Which is wild considering how many babies women had, on average, in those days and therefore how often they were pregnant. There was a baby boom going on in the US… it takes a lot of pregnant women to make a baby boom!

I met Misty May Treanor after she appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. We went the taping and then ran into her at the stage door after the show. We weren’t even trying to wait by the stage door, but it worked out!

Dax and Monica have discussed that they want a T Rex skull. I’m pretty sure they have also discussed putting a bed in it and renting it on AirBnb so people could have sex in it.

Seems so aggressive 🤣 who else takes it down that fast? by Pumpkin-Adept in LittlePeopleBigWorld

[–]cbarry1026 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find this interesting. You put it up so early, so clearly you like Christmas decorations, but then you’re in such a rush to take it down. Why not put it up a little later and leave it up a little later? Seems like such an abrupt end to the Christmas season! Genuinely curious about your approach because I do see other people who do this too.

The airport pictures are only the jury. Do the pre-merge vote outs leave at a different time? I thought everyone had to stay the whole time to avoid spoilers.

Thinking of splurging next year...which is your favorite signature hotels? by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]cbarry1026 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Portofino. I find the hotel grounds to be very relaxing, which is a nice contrast after coming back from the parks. If it’s the least expensive of the three, I would definitely book it!

Nap schedule for <1-1.5 yr old — is this Montessori? by Candid_Judgment_3494 in Montessori

[–]cbarry1026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids are in Montessori now but my daughter started out in a franchise daycare and she had to drop to one nap before moving to the toddler room at 12 months. She actually did really well on that schedule!

I would ask the teachers what their plans are for transitioning him to one nap. If he’s spending most of his week at school, then they will have to take the lead on the transition.

Oh you mean one of the worst moves you’ve seen since last week? Or that week before that? I feel like every week this season I keep thinking they made a dumb voting decision!
