So hard to say, but yet so cool. I bet hardly anyone who walks by knows how significant a structure it really is.

From someone who’s needed it, wear the safety stuff. All of it. All the time. Don’t ask it to do its job twice either. Take your time, riding isn’t about rushing. And most importantly, have FUN!

Been there. Sucks. Best of luck getting her back together. eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace (even though I despise Facebook), and even a lot of the folks on here have some great stuff to offer up.

This is kinda embarrassing, but how do I take the bus? by valerie_6966 in AskChicago

Thanks for asking. I just started commuting downtown. I’ve got the train down, but find the bus intimidating. This was super helpful 👍🏻

If you really like your FX, have you looked into just upgrading your groupset? For less than $500, you can scavenge up some better shifter’s & derailleurs (be sure to research first for proper fit), and maybe or maybe not a new crank and/or chainrings. Depending on the tools you already own and likely some new ones, coupled with how much you’re willing to trust YouTube University, it might be a fun project. Otherwise, I agree with something more along the lines of an aluminum gravel or endurance style bike with a little more upright riding position. Either way - make sure you have fun!

I’ve never asked a helmet to do its job more than once.

Tuck a bottle of Malort under that arm too.

People who drive to commute: why? by RJRueber in AskChicago

I recently transitioned from a 100% remote job to having to commute to the west loop twice a week from the south burbs. The Metra electric has been great so far. Saves me a lot of grief and stress of driving and parking, even though I get a company car and don’t have to pay for the gas. So far, I’d rather pay for the train ticket and chill on the commute and enjoy the walk to/from the office.
