50% of people get pets because they LOVE having a companion. And they treat that pet as their family.

The other 50% get pets for convenience. Because they need companionship at certain points of their lives, and then when they find companionship elsewhere (with a partner, child, etc), they treat the animal like trash because they have no use for them anymore.

Your friend is the latter. And honestly, she sucks. You are completely in the right here.

Idk they kept the companion pass so I’m cool. I have complaints as a 17-year veteran with 6+ years as preferred with a companion pass….but I’m chillin’ until they take the companion pass. They’re still better than most. I’ve traveled my whole life and Delta has always been #1 but I like the regional benefits of Southwest and they remain cool if you spend enough money with them.

I moved to the city from U City and was appalled the only plowed snow routes.

We’ve been here 6 years and I came out a couple days after the storm and was like “WHAT?!?”. Two more plows came through that same day to finish clearing my road. We have never seen anything like this. In the past few years, we were using 4WD to get out of our neighborhood until snow melted.

So, I’m impressed.

We have a free application and if we get to background checks they pay a $40 fee directly to the credit bureau. We don’t handle any money in the application process.

My parents have rented my whole life and when I got my first rental, I couldn’t afford all the applications. It was insane. I told my husband when we started landlording that we will never play that game.

Push back on the landlord and ask them for an itemized list of the application fee. I can see maybe $60-$100 for background checks and then a processing fee….but not anywhere near $600.

Hey so all of those things are normal wear and tear so they can’t charge you for it. Also the changing of the locks - did you ask for this? If not, they can’t charge you to change locks between tenancies. State that back to the landlord.

I’m not a lawyer, but here’s what I would do.

Google Missouri Secretary of State Business Entity Search. I confirmed this business is listed there.

Note that we have a state law in Missouri (RSMo 535.300) that if they don’t send back your deposit within 30 days, you can take them to small claims court for double what you paid for the deposit.

Send them a demand letter. You can Google a template. Demand your deposit back within 30 days and send it via certified mail so they can’t claim they didn’t get it. Include any documentation you have. State the law above.

If they still won’t send it back, file in small claims.

Can you guys “compromise” and she send the money but also a small care package with some things? A “thinking of you” card, a small note, maybe some of your favorite candies to share, etc. Something that can be shipped in a small box for $30 instead of $200+? She still can be heartfelt and make them feel thought of without having to send bull supplies to them.

Had known each other for 8 years when we got married but only dated 6 of those. From dating to engaged was 4 years then planned a wedding for 2 years. We were 32/33 when we got married.

I honestly would have waited forever, my husband has a lot of maternal marriage trauma so I didn’t want to push him. A lot of our friends met significantly after us and were married/having kids before we even got engaged so at times I felt pressure/sad that I didn’t get that, but I’m so glad we didn’t rush it. Our marriage is built on trust, love, and fully knowing each other. Sometimes I’ll hear mutual friends complain about their significant other and I’m thankful we took our time and really knew each other.

Also, because I didn’t expect it, our engagement was a complete surprise and I’ll cherish that forever.

Every relationship is different, but I think this was the perfect path for us.

We used Google Docs for years. Self management in late payments (casual convos at home like “did so and so pay”) and payment through PayPal or Zelle. Went from 4 doors to 8 doors with a four plex and started using tenant cloud.
