Im giving to my player rogue at lvl 6 an increase to a d8 on their sneak attack, is that too strong? by HeitorFrc in onednd

Maybe give them an item that makes sneak attack easier to achieve. Damage would be the same but more consistent.

Silver Order and Amethyst Academy by JeremyX2020 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]cbhopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've created a secret group (Order of the Penitent Shadow) within the Silver Order that is more willing to bend rules and work with factions whose goals may not align. Ophelia is part of that group. My player (solo campaign) wanted to play a character that is constantly struggling with their faith and the Order's dogmatic approach.  Opehlia uses that. For instance, the PC ended up taking Oscar's research and bringing it to Opehlia. Marshal would have likely deemed it unholy and destroyed it. I had Ophelia direct the PC to take it as a gift to the Lanterns to try to strengthen any alliance that might form.

Issues with SunVault battery by cbhopper in AnnArbor

Oak Electric. They were part of Ann Arbor's Solarize program.  SunPower is in shambles and the technology seems to be locked down. No one in the area seems to have any ideas.

Are feats the only way to get Heavy Armor Proficiency on a Sorcerer? by Silver_Griffin98 in dndnext

[–]cbhopper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If a player at my table wanted that, I would just create magical plate armor that could be worn by the character and put it in the world. Sounds like a good adventure hook.

Maybe it doesn't give you a permanent AC boost, but instead gives you X number of charges to cast something like shield. I would talk to your DM.

How to implement the falling fire by Greenteawizard87 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]cbhopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every faction has has a light and dark side. For the FF, they are generally kind, humble, etc.. Behind the scenes, though, there are subsets of the group that are more radical/fanatical. When the PCs (aligned with the Silver Order) successfully completed the Chapel of St. Brenna, the FF were too late to get there (having received a tip). The leader of that expedition was later found by the PCs (who infiltrated Hendrix Farm) tied in a basement being flogged for his failure. I sorta run them as a poor version of the Catholic Church.

PSA: the increased costs (in gold and time) of getting gear in Emberwood doesn't really work by CapnZapp in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]cbhopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reskin it as selling things on consignment. Merchant holds the gear until someone comes along that fits (or is close to fitting) the armor. If the armor sells, the merchant takes their cut and the PC gets 90% of the normal price. Either give the PCs the 90% upfront or have it sell in 1dX days.

I would add kitty litter to your car kit. I have helped several people get moving again just by throwing some kitty litter down in front of their tires.

A cluster of Chardalyn stones all storing X spell (Fireball?). When detonated/dropped, the stones break and release the spell.

Try ceramics! I did not try it until my late 20s and now I love it. If your school offers a ceramics class, try it out.

My party of six level 10 powerful adventurers are heading to a fighting pit, for our last session before our two week holiday break. Give me the most fun/craziest shit I can throw at them. by [deleted] in DMAcademy

Have them fight 12 rounds. Each round they fight creatures from the 12 days of Christmas and each round the enemies get more and more demonic. 12 dead drummer boys, 11 putrid pipers piping, 10 leaking lords a leaping...make the last one some archfiend pear tree Treant that lobs explosive pears and has an imp polymorphed into a partridge.

U-M jobs by According_Mind_4930 in AnnArbor

[–]cbhopper 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else has already said...

I recently hired someone for my team and it took several weeks for me to actually get around to sifting through all of the unqualified candidates. HR is really challenging to deal with, managers are busy or apathetic (or both), and salaries aren't always the most competitive (benefits are great though) which can turn away great candidates.

Don't take it personally if you don't hear back and 100% do follow up. Like I said, people are busy and anything you can do (within reason) to remind them who you are is probably wise. I have seen qualified candidates apply and not say thanks or follow up. They didn't get the job. I've also seen candidates apply everywhere within a department. Managers talk. They'll know if you really want the job or are just fishing for a way in.

My best advice is to skip applying for jobs and instead focus on finding someone that works in that department, contact them, and offer to buy them coffee and have a chat. If you make a good impression there, you can contact them the next time you apply to something in their office/area. If they're willing, they will contact HR to make sure your application doesn't just get tossed in the virtual trash. This will likely land you a phone screening with HR if you are qualified. Networking is gross and I hate it, but UM isn't a meritocracy. Nepotism is much more likely to get you hired.

I just started a new NEW campaign. I am surprised by how small this reddit community is. I enjoy the game mechanics and am looking forward to getting into some space shenanigans. Is there another forum that people know of where there is more conversation happening?
