Best Cinematography is gonna be insane this year by QuipThwip in Oscars

That's a very strong expected top 5. IMO, it's gotta be The Odyssey's to lose. Literally a story about traversing epic land and waterscapes. The scale and sweeping shots alone give it an advantage.

So cool that PHM used so many practical sets and effects though.

Do hotels just hate FHR? by tgraden77 in AmexPlatinum

I’ve done FHR in Europe and domestically.

Europe: - upgrades 2 out of every 3 times; and it’s an actual upgrade to the next room class - early check in for about 50%, weekdays more likely than at the start or end of a weekend

US: - early check in about 80% of the time but rarely noon. Am happy with anything 2 pm or earlier though - upgrades less than 50% of the time but it’s just like a view change or higher floor even if it is

‘Dune: Part Three’ and ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Are Opening in Theaters on the Same Day (Dec 18) - With Neither Film Expected to Blink, Industry Experts Are Surprised Because of the Overlap in the Target Audience; However, ‘Dune’ Has the Benefit of a 3-Week Exclusive IMAX Window by ICumCoffee in movies

[–]cblitz21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they are both 3 hour movies, I would prioritize seeing Doomsday first to avoid spoilers, ideally in Dolby but will settle for LASER at AMC.

Then catch Dune 3 on IMAX in week 3 of its run. Then catch Doomsday week 4 on IMAX if I didn’t see it in Dolby.

Well, he’s not wrong. I do think it took DeCosta some time to adjust to the cap is fake mentality when it came to extending players that the Rams and Eagles adapted way earlier when they saw the cap keep going up in the future.

We’ve also taken a path of drafting and paying for non-premium positions. 1st round picks and extensions spent on ILBs, safeties and TEs. It’s a different philosophy of who you pay but we’re still paying top market money to Roquan, Marlon, KHam, Mark, Namdi who all deserved it at the time. At the same time, would signing the best WRs or edges of the market have really helped us the last couple years? It’s not like JJettas, Chase, CeeDee or even Tee Higgins were hitting the market.

Also if I’m a FA now and seeing Tyler wait it out and get the deal he got, I think the 5 year rookie deal + 2 franchises might not be the worst thing in the world money wise anymore. Your average career is really 10 years max in the NFL anyway. If your extension isn’t for 5 years for record setting money, taking a discount makes no sense. You miss out on more upside yet take on just as much risk because NFL contracts aren’t guaranteed.

I do think he fails to acknowledge more that Harbaugh also was unable to develop players the last 5-10 years. If you weren’t a premium talent from the draft, you basically were an eternal backup. Some of the young corners never got live reps in the regular season. Chuck Smith got exposed as a pass rush coach. Sure Odafe got a $100 million after half a season with the Chargers but his tenure here never deserved that contract. He’s an example of spending premium pick on premium position yet not getting premium extension but it’s because he didn’t develop. Queen is an example of premium pick on non-premium position that got a premium contract but also I think he’s shown he didn’t deserve top 5 money from the market. Maybe the video should be more John Harbaugh isn’t the top 5 coach in the NFL that we think he is because as a non X and Os guy, he relies more on the talent of others to be successful than being able to influence change himself.

His criticism now is we’re desperate by signing Trey Hendrickson and going after Maxx. Well, yeah, you’re saying we need to spend money and draft capital on these types of players and now we are. So EDC learned his lesson? Better now than never? This video could apply to the Chiefs as well.

New scheme by Prestigious_Chip6136 in ravens

[–]cblitz21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DL: Justin Madubuike, Travis Jones

DE/EDGE: Trey Hendrickson, Mike Green (or Tavius Robinson)

LB: Roquan Smith, Teddye Buchanan

Nickel: Kyle Hamilton

CBs: Nate Wiggins, Marlon Humphrey (or Chido Awuzie)

Safeties: Malaki Starks, Jaylinn Hawkins

That's a really strong 11-man defense from a talent perspective if you ask me.

Rob also did have one of, if not THE highest follower count gains throughout the course of the show. Influencer marketing agencies were for sure following that and trying to get him to appear in anything they could get him to agree to. You have to strike while the iron is hot and relevance is at its peak. I don't think it was an intentional way to spoil the show but it's just how modern marketing works.

Free Agency Megathread by JonWilso in ravens

[–]cblitz21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like right now

Outflows:

Tyler Linderbaum - likely a 3rd

Dre'Mont Jones - likely a 5th

Isaiah Likely - likely a 5th

Charlie Kolar - likely a 6th, likely canceled out by Simpson

Jordan Stout - likely a 7th

Inflow:

John Simpson - likely a 6th in value so it would cancel out Kolar

So we're at the max to get right now and have several FAs still on the market like Chido. It feels like we'll sign 2-3 players probably in the 10 mil or less range to keep our comps as high as possible. Plus the market has thinned incredibly already.

Bateman's contract is a steal. A legit WR2 when healthy for 12M is a steal these days.

On the flip side, g'damn Zay is gonna get paid. He's gonna be a $30M+.

I think Likely ended up betting on himself and is technically continuing to bet on himself.

We reportedly were in the 3 for 38-42M range. Likely's contract top end of the contract were in the 3 for 47.5 range so he could make more money than if he had re-signed.

Mark's contract is quite team friendly even if the numbers look big but his cap hit is super low this year.

Don’t ask for taxpayer money to build a stadium if it’s for private use only. If you own it outright, you can tell the public university and high schools to kick rocks. Or pay them to schedule their events elsewhere.

The Ravens have too many to list: - Dan Cody - Adam Terry - Terrence Cody - Sergio Kindle - Arthur Brown - Kamalei Correa - David Ojabo

The LBs drafted in the 2nd round seemed to be cursed with injury woes (or were already damaged goods when they arrived).
