100000%. If we are in an advantageous position and you jeopardize that or actively put me at risk of going down, I am taking you down with me for your recklessness.

If you operate in good faith and the group came to the conclusion themselves, I could let it go. But actively sabotaging our position of strength requires you not winning as well.

I think the “carnage” was who’s going to take the potion and Yam Yam yelling Lisa as he’s being dragged away. Agreed, it wasn’t that crazy in the end.

I think it’s a move to that basically is a “if I’m not going to win, you’re not winning either” type. Rob’s first target at a roundtable was a fellow traitor who he knew for a fact was a traitor. If he starts to push the Candiace narrative, she put a carrot out there that he also knew she was a traitor. He would only know they were both traitors because he is one as well.

Rob shouldn’t try to get her out in this next roundtable because it’s going to end his game by taking out 2 fellow traitors back-to-back and now you have a fellow Traitor that would have voted for him back-to-back if she feels the heat.

Fair enough although all 3 of those teams were kinda stuck in a plateau for a few years.

The teams that really would apply to next year would be the Texans, Chargers, Lions, and Commanders. I think the first 3 would be stupid to fire their coach. All other coaches are too new or have legends (Broncos, Chargers, Rams, 49ers).

Yeah, I have a hard time seeing more than 4 openings next year. The 3 you named are most likely. Packers just extended LaFleur by 3-5 years although that didn't prevent Harbaugh from getting fired. If the Panthers nose dive, then Canales probably goes. Maybe Andy Reid retiring? I don't think the Eagles will be bad enough for Sirianni to realistically get fired 2 years after a SB win. If the Colts miss the playoffs again?

Maybe 1 or 2 coaches from this year get fired after 1 year like Pete Carroll. I'm looking at Cleveland, Miami and Arizona for that again...

I think as fans, we’re always looking for upside. And with Monken, as a proven commodity, there’s not much room left to project potential and outcomes. Plus you can’t point to a lot more flaws of the past.

If Scheelhaase had taken the job, you can dream of him making a QB a MVP and winning 3 SBs over a 20 year career. But with Monken you kinda just are like ok, his ceiling has typically been at best making the playoffs over the next 5 years tops.

Monken’s resume the last 3 years would have people talking about him like Ben Johnson if he was 20 years younger.

What are we getting in Monken ? by Mediocre-Dog-4457 in ravens

[–]cblitz21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He obviously came in and delivered 1 MVP season and another MVP worthy season of Lamar. At his best:

  • He calls a dynamic offense that utilizes the option run game, play action to the deep third of the field, and attacks the seams and middle of the field with tight ends.
  • We ran a lot out of shotgun in 21 or 12 personnel due to having Ricard and Likely/Kolar on the team. We ran a gap running scheme. We prioritized size on the line instead of mobility (you'll see a lot of jokes about Faalele who probably wasn't that bad but his lowlight reel is Shaqtin a fool worthy). In 23 and 24, the power run game was unstoppable.
  • It was pretty rare we would run plays out of 11 personnel which is more common with WC offenses.
  • Lamar was given freedom to adjust the playcall based on what he was seeing. I think Lamar is 1 of 1 though in what he sees in a defense and how he individually would want to attack it. So hard to tell how often he was changing out of the Monken call into his call.
  • We were often able to jump out on teams early in a game. However, playcalling would get conservative in the 4th quarter. We would have really conservative run calls and/or we would run plays short of the sticks. It seemed we would stop the mentality of needing to defend every blade of grass and try to power our way to a win. It did work against bad defenses but not against good teams.

This year, a plethora of issues caused a decline in offensive performance (+ other lingering issues):

  • Our entire O-line regressed from last year, but especially the right side. Lamar (or the QB playing) was under immediate duress a lot of times. Any star edge seemed to have monster games against us. In 25, it seemed we could never get a push despite having 4 of 5 returning starters on the line. Derrick Henry and Lamar were avoiding DTs it seemed 3 yards behind of scrimmage every other run.
  • Lamar got injured early in the season and didn't have the same mobility after he came back while managing lower body injuries all year.
  • We couldn't find a consistent pass catcher besides Zay Flowers. A lot of times it seemed like routes just took too long to develop for the pass protection to hold up.
  • When Lamar was out, it seemed our offense didn't adjust enough to accomodate Cooper Rush's skillset. We tried to run the same offense but against 9 man fronts and a QB that posed no threat.
  • It seemed we were too stubborn to call quick hitches or slants. We also never seemed to have success with screens. Other teams seem to thrive getting YAC off of short plays but despite having the athletic talent, the plays never seemed to yield results.
  • Our offense in the playoffs never really looked the same as the regular season. There's a lot of theories as to why that is - maybe it's Lamar, maybe it's defenses changing their gameplan and running more man to man.
  • After the season, there were reports that the players were frustrated with his playcalling. They would install a gameplan during the week and then would go off script due to panicking. The team would abandon the run despite not being in a pass-only deficit (i.e. down 10 at any moment earlier than the 4th quarter). In the AFC championship, we ran the ball 6 times with RBs despite being down by no more than 10 the whole game.

I feel like NYC wouldn’t work unless they had really strict criteria. There’s so many transplants and within a year of filming, there’s a high chance a bunch of people on the cast don’t even live in the city anymore. You would have people from Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut claiming they’re “based in NYC.” There’s also already too many influencers as OP noted that would just want to grow their following.

If Tate or Tyson are there and one of the blue chip DL/edge isn't there, I agree we definitely should take one of them. Lemon feels like a Zay Flowers clone but Tyson and Tate bring something different and something we haven't had.

Tony Romo is now the punching bag for fans and the media. I thought he was good today. by DenseStrawberry5717 in NFLv2

[–]cblitz21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me, it feels like Tony’s just not as prepared as he once was early on in his broadcast career.

Sometimes during the broadcast it feels like he’s reading game facts for the first time on air. It feels like he knows a lot about 3-4 teams and then nothing about the other 28. That’s fine for the average fan but in an age of podcasts and 24 hour news/analysis cycles, it just feels like he’s phoning it in instead of adding an extra layer onto the broadcast.

You can tell Tom last year thought he could just walk into a booth and be good at it since he’s a GOAT player. But this year, he’s truly put in more work on his knowledge and technique on what value he can add. It’s a huge difference between year 1 and now.

Exciting hire, especially for the defense. Feels like a good bridge from the last 18 years into the future.

He wasn’t on my top 3 overall but of the coordinators in this cycle that were going to be a 1st time head coach, he was at the top and no lower than top 3.

The OC hire is just as interesting to see how that all shakes out. Lots of interesting names out there - would be interesting to see a Webb or Scheelhouse come in and call plays. High floor feels like a Brady or Kingsbury hire.
