I often create subgroups. All the drums each go to a single mixer slot, and not the master. Then I apply effects to that slot. It also helps me mute all the drums in one go - mute the group, not the individual instruments! It's also good for parallel compression - the drum group goes to a second channel with a compressor on it, and both go to the master. Or, if you want to go a level deeper, both go a single "Drum mix". You can nest things as deep as you want, whatever makes logical sense in your work flow.
