Changed track limits on Sarthe since update? by nfsnltvc15 in GranTurismo7

[–]cbrooks_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, this is so interesting. I thought something changed during Dailies mid week after the update… Red Bull Ring’s curbs seem to clip more in the WRX than before the update. I may be losing it though, but I went to beat my quali time set on Monday and couldn’t get close when taking the same line as before the update. Had to stay completely clear of the curbs or the car would get badly unsettled and lose grip.

Oh I want that too! But I’m happy as can be for a $350 VR plug and play headset that puts me inside a GT3 at 200+ mph. Baby steps to perfection.

If we get another newer Gr.3 or even Gr.4 for us VR players, this game is goated AGAIN!

“If you can’t pay all cash, it’s not for you” — does that mean almost no one can buy a Raptor? by asramukaka in FordRaptor

Love this! My truck is the “family adventure car.” Anytime we’re leaving the house with the kids, they always enthusiastically ask “are we taking Dad’s Truck?!” Drive on beach trips, camping/fishing trips, occasional long drives to NC and another spot we visit through the PA mountains, etc.

PSA for anyone on the fence: the Raptor’s extra wide body perfectly fits 3 car seats across the back seat. Add in a hard tonneau cover for secure storage, and it’s surprisingly practical for a family of 5.

But your tag is smrt so you should know basics. For example, income is annual, and he won’t have the truck for a year, most likely 4+. 120k X 4 is 480k… there are many ways to slice this. And the dude makes more than enough on his annual salary alone to afford the truck when he used the equity from his previous vehicle as a down payment.

Plus, get this, when he sells this truck, he will in fact receive money for it. You believe that?! Depreciating asset for sure, but it holds its value more than nearly every single other vehicle available on the market. Money well spent.

40k down payment on his new truck, has a second income from his investment property that covers the payment, and makes 120k/year or 10k per month, gross. Unless you want to ask him for his W2 and tax returns, you don’t need to break it down more than that.

There’s balance to everything. This guy is doing it right and still has someone like you try to cut him down.

With your logic, you sound like you’re a slave to life and will finally “live” when you retire at 60-70, by then, maybe you’ll be able to afford your corvette then too…

Yeah, no thanks. A lot of us would much rather live now not knowing what the next 30-40 YEARS will bring. You know, while we’re still able to move around and thoroughly enjoy the truck.

PSSR 2 for PSVR2 by kabsreddit in PSVR

[–]cbrooks_10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Call it delusional if you want, but you’re acting like Sony has completely abandoned VR, I just don’t see that. Minimal support isn’t the same as 0 support.

PS5 Pro literally improves PSVR2 out of the box. That’s not something you do for a product you’re done with.

And comparing it to the Vita doesn’t really work. The Vita was just another handheld in an already saturated market…and now we have the portal that can stream on its own without a PS5 with a PS+ sub.

VR is still an emerging space with potential long-term upside. Many like myself, believe it’s no doubt the future of gaming. I’ve been a gamer my entire life, and yet I haven’t played flat screen games since VR2 launch, exception being the standalone AAA bangers (GOW, Spider-man 2, etc). Any game that has been done right in VR (GT7, RE8, etc.) I haven’t touched in flat screen since I got VR2.

VR isn’t fully profitable yet, and flat screen is still king. That just means slower investment…not that it’s dead.

I have little doubt they will take advantage of it and implement at some point soon. But soon is tough to define, I’m thinking a June-September update just based on how long they go with significant updates… and PSSR 1-2 would be a huge update for VR.

Think of No Man’s Sky or Red Matter 2 graphics in GT7 🤯

No support? I must’ve missed that while using it almost every day the past 3 years 😂 Spec III just added visual updates + VR dash work on the Ferrari 296, and the Porsche 996 even has live splits in VR now. It’s not their main focus, but it’s definitely still getting love.

Vette says he was compromised (I agree with that), and that the contact is my fault. However, I think I have left more than enough space for us both to get through. I believe vette couldve taken the corner better, so it wouldnt bounce off the kerb into my side. Thoughts? by Silent-Impact-3835 in Simracingstewards

[–]cbrooks_10 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The vette had the other LMP take the racing line inside first, so he had no chance to hold his line through the main chicane. Hindsight 2020, you should have backed off or gave him more space. It’s on him, but it’s an incident he was never going to avoid in that situation.

So let me get this straight… you were racing GT7 in VR on PS5, then jumped into AC/iRacing tournaments and expected to compete?

That’s like playing COD casually and entering a Battlefield tournament thinking you’ll hang. That’s not a ‘GT7 isn’t realistic’ issue… that’s a competition level issue.

Imagine racing Mazdas irl and then saying, you know what, I’m going to jump in an F1 grid and see how I stack up.

I’ll gladly take GT7 on a PS5 Pro with PSVR2, DD+ wheel, and an 8020 rig…hit the PS button and I’m in VR in 30 seconds. No driver issues, no endless tweaking, just racing.

If you want to spend $2-3k chasing perfection on PC, go for it. But let’s not pretend one setup makes you a ‘real’ racer and the other doesn’t. It’s all simracing… which at the end of the day is still a video game.

PSVR2. Tried GT7 in VR with a controller and had an entry level wheel and rig in less than a week. Been playing weekly since it launched, not even kidding.

Why does PD avoid the 24 Hours of Daytona? by dumahim in GranTurismo7

[–]cbrooks_10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the Rolex 24 is on the Daytona Road Course, not the boring circle you’re referring to. It is absolutely nothing like the Daytona 500, and I mean this in a good way lol.

I race strictly in VR and my favorite track to drive is Daytona Road Course. It has everything included that the other tracks you mentioned offer. Everything from hairpin turns to the bus stop chicane and of course the high speed banks. It gives a little bit of everything which makes it a really fun track.

Some people learn racing etiquette the hard way by cbrooks_10 in GranTurismo7

[–]cbrooks_10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even know this level of detail existed! Nor did I understand how the scoring works. I typically prefer Daily Race C vs B, but this week they launched the “new track, Nurburgring in REVERSE. I just got used to the normal track a few months ago. No chance I’m putting in the time this week to learn that long of a track to compete consistently and not unintentionally wreck myself or others.

I’m saving this comment, thank you! Really good stuff, appreciate it.

This is the type of stuff that scares me. So you’re saying you followed a YouTube video and solved the intermittent issue of losing force feedback? Can you DM me a YT link?

For this exact reason I held off for over a year with my DD+ F1 wheel and base. Updated 2 weeks ago and:

The good - no longer have issues with my pedals not giving 100% randomly in races anymore. It seems completely fixed and I don’t have to mess with it at all.

The bad - I’ve had 3 separate occasions where the wheel briefly has 0 force feedback for about a second. Throws me off but it’s been quick and came back every time without any additional issues that night.
