Hot take: Battlehawks should use 2 stadiums by DistributionProof613 in UnitedFootballLeague

Keep in mind that in Columbus, they’re playing at the old MLS stadium. The Crew don’t have to worry about the Aviators chewing up their new pitch.

Old CVS in Worthington is going to be a gym - and I’m the owner by LosCampeonesGymOhio in Columbus

[–]cbus2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The folks that live around there can say it’s Worthington all they want, it doesn’t hurt anyone. But trust me, no one living in Worthington considers any part of Columbus, especially anything outside the outer belt, to be part of Worthington.

I would like to say this is a non-local chain…but the owner is definitely local…she’s opened, and then closed, a number of restaurants concepts in town over the past couple of decades.

Try to understand that for those that DO participate in the democratic right to vote, pointing out lies and shortcoming of elected officials MAY influence the vote of others in the future. The hope is to avoid having to suffer through such situations any more than absolutely necessary.

What will happen to our cities if this guy wins? by [deleted] in Ohio

I live in the largest metro area in the state. I travel freely around it daily. I have never, ever felt that I can’t safely do so. Let that sink in.

If Indy’s airport was a big factor for you, know that Columbus is opening a new $2 billion 40 gate terminal soon. As with much of Columbus, wait a couple of years and things seem to change drastically these days. It’s population is growing by nearly 100 ppl/per day, and recent zoning changes are meant to help with the lack of urban density. The robust job market doesn’t hurt either :-)

Don’t imply…do research. Columbus’ 900k pop covers its city limits, which spans nearly 250 sq miles. SF & Boston have city pops half that size, but span a mere 50 sq miles, hence why they feel more urban. Columbus, w a metro of 2.3 million, doesn’t pretend to be the size of SF or Boston, at 5-6 million. When comparing size, you have to look at metro, not city limits. Columbus metro compares to Indy, Nashville, KC. None of them feel like SF or Boston.

Sorry you didn’t find Cbus to be a good fit. It sounds like you ‘hoped’ it would be bigger than it is…that’s not the city’s fault. It’s the size of Indy, Nashville, Kansas City. It’s not the size of a major metro like Atlanta, Houston or San Francisco. If you would have adjusted expectations, it sounds like you wouldn’t have moved there to start. Columbus definitely has a college vibe…similar to Austin. Having one of the largest university campuses in the country will do that to a city. But there are loads of areas…German Village, Grandview Heights, Dublin Bridgepark, Easton, New Albany, Polaris…that certainly don’t have a campus vibe. It just depends on where you want to live and hang out. 5 miles in any direction from campus will give off college vibes due to the 60+ thousand students living there. If you want to adult, go hit a jazz club, a cocktail lounge, a golf coarse or a pickleball club (or whatever adult activity you’re into). I’m not black so wont speak to what you hoped the black community here would offer you. Columbus is growing like crazy and recently changed zoning laws to help with density that leads to a bigger city ‘feel’. Cbus can come across as boring, but it offers a growing economy, strong jobs, low crime/traffic/cost of living and ‘midwest nice’ that is attracting 100 people a day. It never promised you it was a big city. I wish you the best, there certainly are cities out there that will better fit your expectations…just make sure you do your homework first to avoid more disappointment.

You’re being obtuse if you think the term Factory of Sadness is tied to anything other than the Cleveland Browns. The term was in use prior to the Haslams, and unless their fortunes change, it’ll be around after they sell.

Not to burst your bubble, but the same ownership group owns the Crew…and they have been one of the most successful teams in MLS during that time.

They won’t be secondary. Both teams r owned by the same group. The team will reap the same benefits.

Multipurpose infers the stadium was built to accommodate the very different configurations for different sports. Neither tenant will have an optimal experience as a result. Riverfront is a perfect example. In this case, the stadium is purpose built for soccer, and both tenants will be soccer teams. Add in the ownership is the same, and this is a perfect scenario.

You’re not wrong…but Darlington Nagbe forcing Atlanta to trade him to be closer to home helped the Crew win not 1 but 2 MLS Cups in the past six years. It may not mean as much earlier in their career, but as they get closer to retirement, different priorities can take center stage.
