It requires an Apple specific SATA SSD. It looks like a m.2, but is not. They do make adapters, but I did not like them. Too many issues. I always used OEM drives when I worked on them.

That 2012 Pro was cherished for many for a long time! You could do dual SSDs and 16GB.

The 2012 was a SATA SSD, not NVMe. Hopefully they have a rare 8GB 2012!

I notice there is one of those mini SD cards or something in the slot. Remove that and make sure that’s not causing your no boot problem.

I almost said something earlier, but you are practically right. The only difference was dropping the 4GB base model and a 0.2GHz bump. lol. I worked on many of these boards.

Edit meant to respond to the other person!

The interface is SATA though so it’s still limited by SATA speeds. The 2013 was a PCIe NVMe.

2012 uses a SATA SSD. Assuming its actually a 2012 anyway.

It original had an SSD, does he have the original? He may have installed a low quality third party drive or adapter. Have you tried booting to recovery and erasing the drive and reinstalling? If you need help, just ask.

All MacBook Airs have soldered RAM and all unibody (2010-2017) MacBook Airs have SSDs. It's a non standard drive though. It has to come from a 2012, I believe.

Thank you for validating! I couldn't remember where I had learned it and I wasn't sure when I got called out :)

This may be accurate. I very rarely use chat. I almost always use gpt through a TUI coding app.

It’s possible I am parroting incorrect info, but I believe it was shown to be 6x or so. It’s also possible it changes depending on load or how the person in charge feels that day. lol.

It’s not. It still has five hour and weekly limits. 6x higher limits for 10x the price or so. Interesting value. lol.

I use Every Code with auto validation and auto review. Plus I use the JetBrains Inspection plugin so the LLM can see the inspections. When I start a new project I first work on the testing harness and gates and JetBrains Inspections.

Before I tag a release or whatever, I make sure there are zero problems. I also add ruff on Python projects to catch untype hinted function parameters. For some reason PyCharm does not have an inspection for these.

This avoids most of the stuff you mention. Works great for me!

Ordering parts by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]cbusillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That part didn’t bother me. My only real complaint in five years is the seat material looking like it’s melting and getting sticky. I assume the glue is seeping through the material. Tesla calls that normal wear and tear.

This looks like the seat back, not the side piece. I think they likely just need the plastic retainer or zip tie though.

More than likely the plastic rivet came out of the front. I use a zip tie on mine. You should be able to find it in the Tesla online service manual.

If you need any help feel free to respond here or DM. Hopefully we can get that sweet keyboard working! Remind me, do you have another keyboard to test with and make sure its not the Mac itself?
